The Empire Report - Wednesday, September 22, 2021 - Race Analysis
RACE 1 - (3) DERECHO made his Yonkers debut a winning one, easily wiring a similar bunch - goes for a
new barn tonight, but the guess is he'll be able to repeat last week's effort and take another. (4) MACHING
TIME was a no-threat 2nd the top choice last week after a 2nd place finish the week before - looks for the
"place hat trick" tonight, and just may get it. (2) COACH CAL has been ok since the recent barn switch -
draws inside, and looms a serious threat to land somewhere on the ticket. (7) CINNABAR DRAGON is a
good fit with these but lands a terrible post - we'll see if Dube can make something good happen from out
here. (1) MOXLEY has shown little but does get major post relief -- not sure if that's enough to put him in
the hunt, but we'll find out tonight. (5) TASTE OF HISTORY picked up a couple of smaller pieces
sandwiched around a miscue - maybe he can save ground for a minor piece? (8) BLUEBERRY HEAVEN
gets a barn change and raced ok here at times in the past - tall task awaits from Post 8, though. (6)
DEERFIELD BEACH just hasn't shown much of anything lately.
RACE 2 - (6) IN MY DREAMS has the ability to beat WAY better than these....but he's also incredibly
unreliable, and capable to losing to even cheaper than these - it would be pretty hard NOT to pick him on
top against this field....but he'll be a short price, and certainly isn't worth unloading your bankroll on! (4)
FASHION FOREVER was hurt by terrible cover last week but still finished very alertly - he's been getting
sharper each week after a long layoff, and should have a say in the outcome here. (5) MAKING SPARKS is
0 for 11 here at YR but has raced well several times - not a bad longshot to consider in this compact field
(2) TORKIL is 0 for 25 this year and 1 for 45 over the last 2 seasons - pretty hard to consider on top, but a
piece is possible from this spot. (1) PETERS EXPRESS benefited from a very good trip last week to pick
up 2nd - he'll probably be overbet off that line, but note that he's 0 for 18 at Yonkers. (3) SWANS HONEY
won here earlier in the year but just isn't clicking right now.
RACE 3 - (3) RELAY ROLL was a sharp winner here 3 starts back, raced on that horrific surface on 9/1
(just excuse) then was a sharp 3rd last start in the Excelsior A Final - definitely deserves top billing tonight
(5) FRENCH SHAKER hit a rough patch recently but debuts tonight for the Super Siblings and a quick
return to top form is reasonable to expect - could be the main danger. (6) IDEAL CHIP was too far back to
threaten last week but had a series of solid efforts just prior to that - could add some value to the exotics if
the trip goes her way. (1) BEACHBLANKETLINDY has hit board in all 7 local starts but none of them
were wins (and she's just 1 for 23 lifetime) - remains an excellent one to use underneath! (2) CINCO
SENOR ITA has been racing well at Monti but one would think that her (sharp) connections would have
had her racing here at Yonkers if they thought she was up for it - prefer to just watch her, for now. (4)
ROLL WITH SHORTY has hit board in 9 of 10 local starts this year....but has visited the winner's circle
just once - another that should be considered underneath only. (8) CULINARY ARTIST tired badly in the
Excelsior A Final last week (where the top choice was 3rd) and now draws Post 8 - she can go with these,
but likely needs a better spot to do so. (7) HELLRUNNER HANOVER broke in her first local try, was dull
in her last and now lands Post 7 - pass for now
RACE 4 - (4) SUMATRA has less than thrilling lines lately but he's also been facing way better than these
for weeks - drop to the basement should perk him in a hurry....but he'll also be very well backed - not much
value, but a good chance he can come out on top. (2) LADY EAGLE offered some mild late trot after being
too far back to threaten last week - moves inside, and much more aggressive effort can be expected - likely
the main threat. (1) ETERNAL PRINCE was no factor at all in his local debut but seems to have more to
offer - willing to at least give him a look in his 2nd try for the new barn. (6) DC ANNA looks a bit cheap
on paper and has missed 3 weeks...she also moves to a sharp local barn (upon arrival from the midwest) and
is eligible to improve...maybe if the price is long enough. (5) LINCOLN TUNNEL has Canadian lines that
suggest he may be on the cheaper side - does get Holland tonight, so maybe he'll show some speed? (3)
TOUGH MAC was a non threatening 4th in his local debut, and will need to find more to be a player
tonight. (7) SVF CASH DEPOSIT has been struggling for some time
RACE 5 - Good race: (1) MAJOR CROCKER A was very sharp 2 back so it was no surprise to see him
race very well in his last, finally winning for the first time this year - was taken that night by a barn that has
been clicking at the same high rate as the Dynamic Duo (nearly 40%!), and another rail draw earns him top
billing. (2) GINGER TREE PETE appreciated the class drop last week, charging home once swinging out
to the top of the lane - moves inside, and could be a serious threat here. (4) RECORD YEAR also liked the
class drop last week, racing MUCH better than his line might suggest - moves to a sharp young trainer here,
and could be a decent value play. (5) AWESOMENESS is another very sharp player in here, and is yet
another moving to a new barn for tonight - if the trip goes his way, he can be a late threat. (7) LATE MAIL
N drops back down to the level of the claim after faltering badly in his last - wouldn't be shocked to see him
race much better tonight, but he has a tough task with so many live ones to his inside. (6) DARK ENERGY
N is sharp right now, but not sure that he's really a $30K claimer - prefer to just observe this week. (3) BIG
BAD BILL is another that's definitely a question mark at this level - needs to be a lot better than last week.
(8) MY MIND IS MADEUP moves up and lands Post 8 for his new barn - wait for a better scenario
RACE 6 - (1) IDEAL HANNAH is a very solid player week in and week out, but is just 1 for 16 on the
season - may benefit from a contested pace tonight, and just may end up getting the trip she needs to double
her win total - decent value play (6) PARTY QUEEN beat these 2 back then came up 2nd best to a recently
rejuvenated rival in her last - she's the one to beat here, but she'll be a short price and may end up with a
tough trip - could be a just a bit vulnerable. (2) RUTHMAE HANOVER looked promising shipping in from
PA but hasn't clicked yet in her 2 local starts - too soon to write her off, and maybe we'll see a sharper
version tonight? (5) LINE EM UP had good pace once free late in last and her barn has been waking up
lately - decent value play for exotics. (7) BRUSH N CRUSH has taken 2 of her last 3 (too far back in the
other) and is certainly sharp - she's also moving up in class tonight, and may end up coming from too far
back once more. (8) SEA OF LOVE BC finished well last week after doing no racing for most of the mile -
would probably need things to really fall apart up front to have a chance from out here. (4) ROBMOTION
BLUECHIP is always fast off the car....but unfortunately her FINISHES have been terrible - needs to find a
lot more stamina in order to be a more serious threat. (3) SOCIETY JILL was no good last week and her
overall recent form has been lacking as well.
RACE 7 - (8) GETTIN MESSI was struggling when here last but his recent Stga. form is actually pretty
consistent - he lands in a shaky field for his YR return and while lots of trip luck will be needed from out
here, the juicy price he'll likely go off makes him worth the risk. (1) IM THE MUSCLE just wouldn't grab
the bit last week and his fate was already sealed when he finally kicked in late for 3rd - was wildly overbet
last time (3/5), but he'll be a better price tonight for those willing to give him another chance. (2) FULL
RIGHTS tired badly last week in the stretch but was also used very hard a couple of times during the mile -
could easily beat these if he shows up on his best game tonight....but it's hard to get excited about a play
when he's listed at 7/5 on the ML! (7) LIMERENCE drops to a winning level but hard to say how
aggressive he'll be from out here - check the tote board for clues? (4) CON AIR HALL isn't sharp right now
but he does drop, and at least looks better than a few of the others. (5) MISS YOU KELLY was an
opportunistic winner last week over a very soft bunch - moves up, and likely looking at a minor share at
best. (3) BINGO QUEEN has picked up some small pieces lately but still wouldn't say she's "sharp" -
prefer others. (6) YANKEE GIRLFRIEND ran for no reason last week and now moves up in class while
also drawing outside.
RACE 8 - (4) MILIEU HANOVER was ultra impressive here in March winning off the layoff and it's no
surprise that she's gone on to enjoy a strong 3YO campaign - this is hardly an "easy" NW6 field....but she
absolutely deserves top billing in her Hilltop return. (1) TENTHOUSAND ANGELS came over from the
same barn at the same time as ALL HANDS ON DECK...and both are barely recognizable since joining
this terrific training tandem - would have been 200-1 in this field just a few weeks ago, but now she's a legit
contender....with a good chance at a nice piece of this. (2) SUMMER RAE has a win and SIX 2nds from 9
local starts this year...and one of those 2nds was last week, in the NYSS Final (behind the incredible TEST
OF FAITH) - clearly a very live player, but this is a very good NW6 field! (6) EASY TO PLEASE is
another that enjoyed a solid 3YO season and her first try for a new barn last week was excellent - draws
outside, so a bit of trip luck will be needed to get her in play. (7) LARJON LEAH was used very hard last
week so she deserves a pass for tiring late - the issue here is the draw, and she'll be hard pressed to
overcome it against this solid group. (3) ROLL ON MAMA lands in a tough spot - wait for an easier field
before considering. (8) ELLAGATOR is good now, but it's hard to see a way into the race for her tonight
(5) LET ER BUCK seems a bit overmatched in here
RACE 9 - (2) GLOBETROTTING broke before the start in his only local try (as the 2/5 choice) then broke
in NJ the next week - added hopples after that and has stayed flat ever since...a clean effort tonight would
make him very tough to beat! (1) WARRAWEE SHIPSHAPE is looking at an easy, up-close trip and that
would give him a solid chance at another big chunk (he was a winner at this level last week). (7) DRAZZM
ATAZZ is a legit player at this level - no luck with the draw, but more than willing to use him underneath at
that 20-1 ML price. (3) PRESIDENTE ZETTE probably needs to be in cheaper, but he's good enough right
now to follow along closely for a small piece. (4) UVA HANOVER has been unreliable from week to week
- would consider including underneath, but only if the price was juicy. (6) DYNAMIC EDGE can do some
damage at times but the outside draw does figure to limit him tonight. (5) SHOWMEYOURGUNS just
hasn't been the same since that BIG form reversing win 5 starts back. (8) STINGLIKE A B K hasn't looked
sharp at Fhd. since returning recently from a month off - Post 8 isn't going to help
RACE 10 - Tough finale: (2) CENTURY FURY was right there all the way last week - wasn't much room
at the cones, but may not have been "overloaded" either...barn has been winning some races lately, so we'll
give him the narrow nod. (4) SECRECY was terrible last time but drops down to the level where he does
his best damage and may reverse form in a hurry. (8) CLIFFHANGER is more than good enough to beat
these but he lands all the way outside, and may not be "safe" enough to hustle out aggressively for a spot -
ok to use, but only if the price is decent. (7) MCCLINCHIE N hasn't been all that sharp lately but this may
be a spot where Bartlett takes a shot at leaving - chances go way up (at least for a piece) if that happens. (3)
ARCANE SEELSTER was heavily backed last week but only had mild pace in the stretch after a rail trip -
may be overbet again tonight. (5) IWONTDOTHATAGAIN may be showing some subtle signs of
improvement - decent bomb for 3rd/4th. (1) HAGGARD draws best but he's 6-0-0-0 at YR and just may
not be that much. (6) SWEET TRUTH disappoints far more often than he delivers.
