The Empire Report - Tuesday, August 17, 2021 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (1) STAR SPEAKER is hard to make a case for off his recent lines (especially that one local try)

but he has a new (high %) trainer listed for tonight (although his old owner/trainer is still down as owner) -

he's won 7X this year, has the rail in a shaky field, and we'll give him a shot in the opener. (3) ROCKIN

RAMBARAN has been struggling to say the least but he makes his 2nd starts for a top barn, moves inside,

and this may be a good spot to look for a wake up call. (2) THEREISAPACEFORUS is the "steadiest" of

all the players in here, but he just doesn't win often enough to use on top at a short price - underneath, for

sure! (5) BOLT OF LUCK was overmatched last week but should find this crew more to his liking - might

have picked him higher if not for that ridiculous 9/5 ML price (won't be any value now). (8) POCKET

WATCH N was a very nice 2nd in his Hilltop debut but gets the worst post for tonight - not sure he can

work out a reasonable trip from out here. (7) ROLL WITH FRED goes for another new barn after being

claimed last week - wouldn't be shocked to see him race well, but he really does seem to be off form at the

moment. (4) WAR DADDY has been picking up pieces with cheaper at Chester but he's in tougher now,

and is pretty camera shy as it is. (6) D GS SHALLWEDANCE used an easy trip to grab a 3rd last week but

doesn't figure to be as fortunate from this spot.

RACE 2 - (5) LINDYSALWAYSTHINKN grabbed a win and a 2nd at PcD at 2 when not racing in stakes

events - bit slow to come around at 3 but seems to be sharpening now, and catches a pretty soft bunch for

his first Yonkers try - won't offer any value as the 8/5 ML choice, but he does look like he'll be a strong

player. (2) COLD DECKED was too far back to be a player in his first local try but should be more

forwardly placed tonight - done enough decent work in Ohio to assume he'll fit well with these. (6) SCOTT

ONTHE ROCKS is just 1 for 24 but still seems better than most of these - tough draw, but still could grab a

decent chunk here. (1) ALVIN BRICKROCK arrives from Canada and draws best but does feel a little

cheap - he does have 2 wins from 7 starts, so he's not a terrible stab IF the price is right. (8) MACPHEUS

showed little in a pair of local starts and draws Post 8 - still may be able to beat a few of these, though. (7)

JOSE seems too far out to threaten - keep an eye for future consideration. (4) KEEPAMERICAGREAT is

now 1 for 30, and showed little in his 3 local starts - does have some 2nds and 3rds, so perhaps he can land

a small piece. (3) PINEBUSHDRAGONROLL was no factor at 72-1 in his only local start.

RACE 3 - (1) HAPPY TRIO was actually much better in those last 2 starts than his lines might suggest -

you know he'll be getting a very aggressive try with Joey B. on board, and he just may be sharp enough to

pull it off. (5) WESTERN REDHOT was 2nd in his last pair to Davids Coming Home (who has now won 3

straight) - looked much more "steerable" last week for his new barn, and could be a major threat tonight.

(3) RUTHLESS DUDE has been claimed for three straight starts but wasn't all that sharp in his last 2 races

- on his best, he can be a big threat here...we'll see how he does for his new connections tonight. (2) PLAY

THE FIELD was reclaimed last week for $5K more than the barn lost him for (on 7/23) - just 1 for 20 this

year, but has eight 2nds and 3rds - good one to use underneath. (4) BLACKTREE rallied well for 3rd

behind a runaway last week - ok for a small piece here too. (7) JUST WAVE GOODBYE was an ok 2nd off

the claim last week, but has his work cut out for him from Post 7 tonight. (8) TODDLER TANTRUM could

really use a drop and much better post. (6) ITSGOODTOBEDAKING showed little in 2 YR starts.

RACE 4 - (2) TRUFFLE DOG was a 1:50.4 winner in his last Canadian start before shipping down to his

current barn - has held his own in some fast miles across the river, and really should be able to handle this

modest NW2 field. (1) IDEAL BEACH has raced well in his 4 local starts, picking up a win and a 2nd -

draws best, and could be next in line. (5) SOLID ALIBI "figures" every week, always races "well", but is

now 0 for 7 here at Yonkers (two 2nds, four 3rds) - likely looking at a similar piece tonight (4) ELS DISCO

JOHNNY uncorked a big third quarter brush last week that carried him right to the lead...and to an easy win

at 23-1 - definitely one to use in exotics. (3) RAILIN JENNINGS has been 4th in 4 straight starts - another

minor share seems to be in the cards for him. (6) OLD TOWN ROAD grabbed 3rds in his last 2 starts but

may endure a tough trip from Post 6 - chance for a small piece (7) WINNING LINE can probably improve

off his last, but this is a tough spot even if he does. (8) PINEBUSH LIFESAVER wasn't terrible last time

but doesn't figure to have much say from out here.

RACE 5 - (4) JESSICAS BEACH BOY was excellent in his first start off the claim, finishing a close 2nd

to the heavy favorite - was scratched sick from his next then finished full of pace for 4th from well out of it

in last - should be a nice price here in a wide open race...and he's worth using. (5) CAPTIVATE

HANOVER was "sneaky good" two back so last week's big wake up mile really wasn't all that surprising -

legitimate threat in current form. (2) SIX DEGREES was a pretty solid player before changing hands after

his 7/13 mile here (finished 2nd) - won his first start at The Meadows easily, then caught a blazing 1:49.1

mile in his next start at PcD - could be a live player in his current form. (7) FULL MOON BEACH

(program line is incorrect) was caught wide a long way in his local debut and had trouble rallying - seems

capable of better, and he'll surely be a big price from out here. (6) BARRYWHITE HANOVER may be a

bit cheap but he's been a model of consistency, compiling a 6-2-2-1 local slate - chance for a smaller piece

from this spot. (8) HEARTLAND DANDY has disappointed in both local starts, settling for a 3rd and a 4th

- draws Post 8 tonight, and we'll need to be sharper to contend for a piece. (1) L DEES JACK LOPEZ

hasn't had any luck in 3 local tries but maybe he can tow along from the rail for a minor share. (3)

ANDRES HANOVER broke leaving last week (uncharted?), recovered quickly in 5th but never looked any

good after that - pass for now.

RACE 6 - (3) BELTANE A has been drawing way outside almost every start for the last few months... but

the two times he recently drew well, he picked up 2nds - should be a decent price here, and may be able to

beat these if the trip goes his way. (6) ON THE VIRG hasn't looked sharp but this is a prime spot for a

wake up call - good week to include him on your tickets. (1) MELODIES MAJOR was sharpening in PA

before getting THE barn switch last week - too far out to do any real damage that night, but still raced well

enough to earn a long look tonight from the pole. (5) ALTA LEROY N clearly had some issue last week

and should probably just get a pass for that night - he's a very good fit at this level and assuming he's 100%

tonight, the right trip would give him a chance here. (4) BIGONPERSONALITY N wasn't bad last week

from an impossible spot - can see him grabbing a piece with an easy trip. (2) THISJETSABOOKIN was

sharp off a perfect trip to defeat easier last week - seems a bit overmatched here, but keep in mind that the

barn has been hitting at about 40% for the last 2-3 months, before tossing him too quickly! (8) SEEUINNA

SHVILLE A is actually a good fit with these, but hard to see a way into the race for him from out here. (7)

VELOCITY KOMODO doesn't figure to be able to get close tonight

RACE 7 - Tough race: (3) THE REAL ONE really kicked in hard at the end to get up last week, after

easily defeating cheaper the week before - we've seen him go on these form sprees in the past, and we know

he can handle this class "when right" - one of several possibilities in here. (1) TIGER BARON threw a

mega blitz to take the lead to 3/4s last week and never looked back after that - able to stay in the same class

here (a win dropped off the bottom of his card), and it would hardly be a surprise if he was able to take

another. (2) LIFEONTHEBEACH A is really thriving since the recent purchase - may be able to use his

speed here, and he'll definitely be offering some decent value in his YR debut. (4) THINKBIG

DREAMBIG only made 4 starts in 2020 then took off a full year before re-qualifying in July - made his

first start of the year here last week and it was promising, especially considering the poor track condition...

very possible. (6) TYGA HANOVER fits well with these when he brings his best game....as he did the last

couple of weeks - another with a chance, depending on trip. (8) BLANK STARE is as good as any of these,

but will need to find a way to overcome Post 8 - won't be easy...but not impossible. (5) DON DOMNGO N

used a perfect trip to win his last but that's an unlikely scenario for tonight. (7) FLAMING FLUTTER N

doesn't figure to be able to reach from out here.

RACE 8 - Evenly matched field: (1) THOR AND DR JONES broke after hitting the top last week but his

previous efforts here suggest there's some ability - may trip out tonight, and should even be a decent price

in a race full of possible contenders. (5) SARANAC BLUE CHIP has been 1st or 2nd in 7 of 10 local starts,

including last week's nose loss after cutting the mile - he always goes off at a square price....and that always

makes him a decent one to use. (8) LARRY LINCOLN N makes his U.S. debut off a qualifier that suggests

he's a pretty nice horse - on the flip side, it's hard to say how serious he'll be from Post 8, and there's not a

lot of history of Austin Siegelman as a trainer...let's hope the tote board offers some clues! (3) ARTIST

BEST landed on a brutal trip as the favorite last week after winning his prior pair - obviously capable of

rebounding tonight with a better journey. (4) KEYSTONE NOLAN has proven that he can go with these -

didn't even pretend to be interested last week, but perhaps he'll be given the green light tonight and be

handled more aggressively. (2) THE COOKIE MONSTER paced a solid last half last week in his first start

back off the layoff - willing to include underneath. (7) NEXT BIG THING seems cheap on the surface but

he'll be adding Lasix while joining a top barn, and he's not a bad one for longshot fans. (6) NORTHERN

BACCARAT has two wins and a 2nd from 3 local starts but faces tougher here, and from an outside post.

RACE 9 - (2) VIRGIN STORM hadn't been on his best game for a while but definitely looked MUCH

better in last week's very game, first over victory - moves up a notch, but may have some renewed

confidence off that win...willing to stay on board. (5) MACHEASY A's last 2 local starts resulted in a win

and close 2nd vs. NW15000 - not as sharp out of town since then, but returns off a big Monti mile and may

be ready for a top effort at this NW10000 level. (8) GINGRAS BEACH has been holding his own most

weeks with better - hard to know his intentions from Post 8 but IF Brennan can get him a good early spot,

he'll have a chance here. (1) KNOCKING AROUND has some good recent efforts and draws best, but he's

just 1 for 20 on the year and would need to be a good price to use on top. (6) ORILLIA JOE could be a

threat against these any week, but he's missed 3 weeks off the sick scratch and may not be primed for a top

effort here. (7) AWESOMENESS was a game winner in last, although helped by a badly hanging rival -

Post 7 may severely limit him tonight. (3) JMS DELIGHT always seemed to have more ability than he

would show here at Yonkers - prefer others. (4) ZIGY SKY isn't clicking right now.

RACE 10 - (1) CAPTAIN SLEAZE sat pocketed to the sharp Crunch Hanover and gave that one a good

stretch battle, actually gaining a bit into the hot :27.3 final quarter- gets to call the shots tonight, and looms

a short priced favorite. (4) SHINY BLACK BEAMER was lifeless in last, but may have struggled with the

off going - drops right back in the box, and could rebound quickly. (5) ROLL WITH TIME was a decent

4th last start, debuting for the former California driver - eligible to improve this week, and be even closer.

(2) LEVEL UP has a less than stellar local record (12-0-0-2) but returns from "The Ridge" in fine form, and

may be able to stick close and land a share. (6) GAMBLINGTERROR continues to find ways to grab

pieces, even from tough spots - good one for 3rd/4th. (3) DIAMONDHEAD steps up in class after a dream

trip win in last - probably looking at only a minor share tonight. (7) ROLLING WITH SAM doesn't seem

sharp enough to do much damage here. (8) LINNYCALLEDFRANKIE gets a pass for his last (just a brutal

trip) but he's also moving up in class, from Post 8 - not a winning combo!

RACE 11 - (1) IMSTAYNALIVE has been doing the best he could from some difficult/impossible spots

lately - should be able to work out a decent trip here, and he seems sharp enough to capitalize. (3) WHITE

HAIR ROCKS has been racing in fine form for a long time, making it hard to believe that he's just 1 for 54

over the last 2 years - he might have been the top pick here if not for that microscopic win %! (7) PAT

STANLEY N has been solid every week, but gets stuck outside again and will need some trip luck to

overcome this spot - willing to consider IF the price is juicy enough. (6) ONE OFF DELIGHT A lands a

tough post but still shouldn't be 20-1 ML - good chance he can outrace his odds here, and pick up a piece of

this. (2) ISLANDPECIALMAJOR seems better suited for a lower level but the good draw should allow

him to tow closely enough for a chance at a piece. (5) VILLIAM was very good in 2 of his last starts, but

vs. lesser - not sure he can go that kind of mile against these. (4) FIZZING N raced aggressively off the

sick scratch last time and wasn't up for it all - could use a rail ride tonight to get some confidence back. (8)

MARK WITHA K will look good with a drop and better post next week.

RACE 12 - (3) TOWNLINE ALL GOOD was stuck with 8 holes in both starts off the claim and simply

had no prayer - this is a much better spot, and expect him to be cranked up for a big effort tonight. (4)

INDICTABLE HANOVER will be the heavy favorite off his current PA form but his last 2 starts here

resulted in a break at the start, and a dull try....so he may be a bit vulnerable for his Hilltop return - be

careful at a very short price. (1) MYKINDACHIP is looking at a good trip and likely a good piece - but he's

just 1 for 15 at Yonkers, so it's tough to go with him on top. (8) BECHERS BROOK A is better than many

of these, but draws Post 8 - if you think Bartlett can get him in play without using him too hard, he'll be

offering some pretty good value. (2) HUDSEN A moves up and loses Dube - maybe can grab a small piece

with a conservative steer? (5) PATRIOT NATION has disappointed too many times at lower levels to

consider too seriously here - chance for a minor share. (6) OUR MAJORDAN A and (7) MISTER SPOT A

figure to have trouble entering contention from their outside spots.
