The Empire Report – Wednesday, March 13, 2024 – Race Analysis

RACE 1 – (1) ATLANTIS threw a mile too bad to be believed on 2/28 but he dropped right back in the box and

shrugged it right off, delivering one of his more typically sharp tries last week – clearly the one to beat, but likely a

very short price. (7) MAGRITTE is nowhere near “top form” these days but he did pick up a couple of 3rds here in

Feb. and is listed at 20-1 ML – worth using in exotics. (3) SWAGASAURUSREX failed to fire in either start since

the big barn change and comes into tonight off a sick scratch – on the flip side, Kakaley does stick with him over #1,

so perhaps we’ll finally see some more life from him. (8) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN showed last week that he can

still be a functional player when given an easy trip – if Holland can blast his way into a good early spot, maybe he

can last for a small piece? (6) OURRHYTHMNBLUES N is off a sick scratch and hasn’t really been “sharp” – still

may be able to beat a few of the others, though. (5) DEEDENUTO A seems pretty cheap but the barn does come up

with a live shipper at times – maybe 3rd/4th? (2) SHUFFLE UP HANOVER hasn’t been functioning in weeks – hard

to make a case for him right now. (4) MINGO JOEL hasn’t clicked so far in 2024.

RACE 2 – (7) INTERVIEW FRA A just sat in the back from Post 8 in his first local try but did finish with interest –

took a shot from the same horrible post last week, found a great spot in 3rd and may have been a big player if not for

an unfortunate miscue off turn three – IF Siegelman is willing to handle him aggressively once more, he may be able

to pull off an upset. (5) WILD WAY was very sharp off the layoff, winning impressively first over – she added Lasix

off that win, but just never got involved at all last week – anything close to that first start back would make her very

tough tonight. (6) ALLSUMMERLONG AS can be a little inconsistent but she does throw good efforts when on her

game – could easily be a big player tonight, but that 2-1 ML price is a bit of a turnoff. (4) MR KNOWITALL drifted

off the cones to the final turn last week and just spun his wheels before tiring – we’ll see if he’s better in his 2

nd local try. (3) CREDARENA won his first start back in ’24 then earned just $800 in the next 4 starts – needs a wake up call

to be a player here. (1) WAVERLY HANOVER qualified back nicely at PcD but has a poor 6-0-0-0 local slate –

prefer to just watch, for now. (2) TO MY CREDIT was a little better last week, but still needs a lot more.

RACE 3 – (7) VARSITY BLUE CHIP sat last at 37-1 in her career debut but paced very well from the final turn and

was sent off at 9/5 in her next start upon moving to the rail – she landed a perfect trip and won that night, followed

up by last week’s wire to wire score (at 4/5) – it’s still hard to say what her ceiling might be but she SHOULD be

able to make it 3 in a row against this field, even from out here. (4) IB LILY IR has struggled to find her game since

arriving from the UK but she probably has some ability and may be the main threat to the top one. (5) PINE BUSH

MAGA is winless in 20 local starts but she does race well enough for pieces at times, and he may be able to add

some value to the exotics. (2) NIRVANA HANOVER was dull in her first try for our leading barn then broke going

for the lead in her next – she’ll probably pick up her game eventually, but it’s hard to use her at short prices right

now. (3) NEITHER DO I was no factor from Post 7 in her local debut but the move inside may at least help her

contend for a small slice. (6) URSULA BLUE CHIP has a trip of 3rds from her 10 local tries but tonight’s draw may

hurt her chances significantly. (1) GANDY DANCER won a race and some $$ at 2, but has struggled so far at 3.

RACE 4 – (3) ANOTHERSTATEMENT A was aggressively handled last week, fought off a serious challenger and

dug in gamely to prevail at a generous 10-1 price – he’s good enough to handle the class hike, and should still be a

decent price in this solid field – chance to take another. (7) KEYANG KAMIKAZE A had a couple of good NJ starts

before delivering the very convincing victory in his first local try – he was scratched sick last week and is stuck with

a bad post for tonight...but may still be good enough to overcome it. (4) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK just missed to

JUSTASEC N last time and that one came back to jog again on Monday night – classy veteran is more than capable

of beating these. (2) ARDEN MESSI N is pretty good right now and probably looking at a decent trip – chance for a

mild upset if the top ones don’t fire their best shots. (6) MIND HUNTER has been stuck taking home smaller pieces

for a while, and likely looking at the same scenario tonight, especially with the bad post. (1) HIMSELF N has been

“ok” in his 4 U.S. starts but will need to pick up his game to threaten the top ones. (5) POUND FOR POUND seems

a notch below a few of these, but a good trip could help him grab some minor spoils. (8) FRANCO NANDOR N has

been sharp at Fhd. but faces a tall task from out here.

RACE 5 – (1) SMOKIN BY N didn’t fire off the claim last week but goes right back to the barn he raced super for,

and surely worth a shot tonight with that 8-1 ML listing. (5) CAPTAIN T HANOVER got ack to the winner’s circle

last week after knocking on the door in his previous 4 starts – the right trip could make him dangerous again for a

hot barn. (2) SHANWAY N tends to lag during the mile lately before finishing decently – may lead him to a small

piece tonight. (3) LYONS JOHNNYJNR hasn’t won in a while but he’s usually right in the hunt with these types,

and should be again tonight. (6) IM J BEE N saw his 4 race winning streak ended last week when a close 3

rd (behind #5) – draws poorly for a new barn and that could hurt his chances of starting a new streak. (4) R CAPTAIN HANOV

ER probably fits well here but he was scratched sick from his last, and could be a little iffy for tonight. Both (7) KE

YSTONE DASH and (8) JOJOS PLACE figure to be severely hampered by the draw.

RACE 6 – (2) MANCLANE was handled conservatively from Post 7 last week (after a miscue the week before) and

never had a chance) – lands in a much better spot for tonight, and reported home a winner for Brennan the last time

they were paired up – déjà vu? (3) SEVENSHADESOFGREY made a break in his last start of 2023, broke again

qualifying a month later, but turned in an excellent prep here last week (after some additional freshening) – when on

his game, this guy can do some damage. (5) MAHONE SEELSTER races well every week but never seems to get

bet, making him a great one to include regularly on your tickets (he has 5 seconds from his 7 local starts, ALL at

“good” or “big” prices)! (6) MYCROWNMYKINGDOM can be a little in and out but he was very sharp in his last,

and could show up late if things get a little testy up front– reasonable longshot to consider (1) FRANK THE ELDER

scored off the layoff over cheaper 2 back, but got used for the lead from Post 7 last week and was unable to keep it

going in the lane – the move inside has to help, but he also figures to be overbet against some solid competition. (4)

BONTONI DEGATO S couldn’t lose recently for our leading trainer but has struggled to function in his 2 starts

since exiting that barn – make sure to get a good price if you think that tonight is when he puts things back together.

(7) YOU GOT IT figures to have trouble getting into the action from all the way out here.

RACE 7 – (4) ROSE RUN YANKEE isn’t always the easiest horse to drive but he does have ability – was too far

back for any chance on 2/28, then looked loaded while lacking room last week – maybe this is a spot where he can

trip out and pay a decent price? (5) ENERGYSOURCE seemed to have some trouble getting qualified for the 2024

season but his first start back last was promising – he does have some ability when on his game, and may be ready to

improve off his last and be an even bigger threat tonight. (3) DARK MIND likely bled when no good at all on 2/21

as he added Lasix for his last start and reported home a winner – could be even sharper now, and that would make

him a real threat. (1) TOMBSTONE didn’t fire enough last time but he’s capable of better – could trip out from this

spot and do some damage. (2) I GOT THE TAB got towed along for 2nd to the dominant short priced winner 2 back

but didn’t fare as well on the lead last week – could easily rebound here, and worth a look IF the price is decent. (8)

CAL MILES N SHELL has been racing “well”, but perhaps not well enough to seriously threaten from Post 8- small

piece? (7) THE BALLYKEEL DEAL really looks a bit cheap arriving from Canada (and draws poorly) but his new

barn does routinely improve fresh stock – tough call. (6) WISTERIA HANOVER was very good last week, but this

is a much tougher spot.

RACE 8 – (2) PEMBROKE SOUTHIE showed flashes of ability for her previous barn so it was no surprise to see

her come out and jog in her first try for the Super Siblings – faces a tougher bunch tonight, but we’ll stay on board.

(6) BETTA WATCH OUT N has 2 wins and a 2nd since arriving in the U.S. and has to be seen as the main danger,

despite the bad draw – may prove best if she lands an easy enough trip. (5) DEVILISH DREAMS perked up with a

MUCH better effort last week, and her whole barn is clicking now – could add some value to the exotics. (4) HUNT

ING LINDY came up 2nd best to the top choice making her first start of the year – could be even sharper tonight, but

this is also a much tougher (overall) field. (1) SILKY STRIDE was no factor the last couple of weeks but does seem

capable of better – maybe the move inside will help? (3) UNCONTROLLED raced ok in her 2 local starts – not a

bad one for 3rd/4th at a big price. (7) CLEAR THE WAY probably needs an inside draw to be any kind of player with

these. (8) STAY JELLY draws Post 8 after being on the shelf since September – pass, for now.

RACE 9 – (4) SOUTHWIND ONYX has picked his game back up, and raced well in his last pair – he’s looking at a

good trip tonight, and feels like a good value play for the finale. (2) PRESTIGE SEELSTER had trouble getting

involved from Post 7 last week but he moves inside and he’s won too many of these to not deserve a serious look.

(1) CAMPORA N moves all the way to the rail and has some good efforts recently – if he brings his best tonight, he

can be a handful. (6) DAAMERICANSKY hadn’t won at Yonkers for some time but he hit the top in a soft field last

week and was able to goo wire to wire– he MAY be able to beat these too, but definitely not worth that 8/5 ML price

(7) IMABEACHBOY was able to score on the front end for a hot barn last week but faces a much tougher journey

tonight – may be looking at a much smaller share. (3) MACHLICIOUS rallied for 2nd at big prices twice recently –

ok bomb for the bottom of exotics. (5) MAJETIC KIWI N hasn’t hit board in any of his 5 local starts this year. (8)

MISTER SPOT A faces a daunting task trying to get involved from out here.
