The Empire Report - Tuesday, December 19, 2023 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (4) TERACITA has jogged in 3 of her last 4 starts and may have been 4 for 4 if not for some bad

trip luck- nobody seems willing to claim her for $20K so she gets to stay in the class once again, and looms

the prohibitive choice to take yet another. (1) SEZANA N drops back to the level that produced a pocket

victory 3 back - looking at another good trip tonight, with a chance to take home a big slice. (7) FLIP THE

SCRIPT didn't leave from bad posts the last 2 weeks but gets Bongiorno for tonight and he may be willing

to send her out of there tonight - chance to land in the exotics if she can find a good early spot. (3) PLZDO

NTLIETOME N has been okay the last few starts and may be able to get away to a good start tonight - an

easy trip could land her somewhere on the ticket. (5) MEADOWBROOK JENNY likes to win races (18

over the last 2 years) but she ships in off the claim at Stga, and exits a barn that has become a very high %

outfit this year - we'll see how she holds up, and how she fits with the locals. (2) WILDCAT ANTONIA

gets another new pilot and has proven to be a hard horse to drive even for the pilots that get to know here -

always a chance she can rally for a piece if she doesn't get lost early on. (6) AINTNOHOLLABACKGRL

had been on a nice roll before a bit of a clunker last week - may bounce right back, but this is a tough post

regardless. (8) LINCOLNS GIRL N used a fast start to squeeze out a 3rd last week - much tougher spot.

RACE 2 - (5) GOLDEN QUEST N raced well from terrible spots the last 2 weeks and she's a proven

winner against these types when sharp - she hasn't gotten her picture taken in a while, but maybe she can

end the season on a winning note tonight? (2) PURAMERI got a puzzling drive last week (on a night when

Bartlett won 7 races) and was left with no chance - she fits very well here, and can be a real threat with a

better journey. (3) SHOTGUN PERSUASION hasn't embarrassed herself since bumping up to the 50s after

the recent claim - would probably prefer to be in cheaper, but she's also sharp enough for a chance with

these, with the right trip. (1) WOODMERE HARRIET doesn't have the greatest Yonkers record over the

past couple of years but she finished well off an easy trip last week, and has a chance for a piece of this if

things go her way again. (6) SAUBLE DELIGHTFUL was a sharp winner in the bottom class 4 back - was

overdriven in her next pair, then just didn't fire last week - she's been hard to predict all year, and tonight is

no exception. (4) QUARREL has the ability to be a player here but she tired on the lead 2 back, then broke

on the final turn last week - may not be on top of her game right now.

RACE 3 - (3) TRAIN STATION was sent off at 1/5 on 11/28 (off the big barn change), was cruising along

on the lead and seemed headed to an easy win when he just blew up on the final turn - qualified back nicely

in NJ and deserves a chance to make amends....but don't fall in love at another very short price. (1) VENTU

RESOME ARDEN N is a fresh import for a barn that has enjoyed some success with these types in the past

(including COACHELLABOUND A, this year) - probably the one worth taking a shot with if you think #3

is vulnerable. (2) TOMMY THREE STICKS got unlucky last week when no holes opened and he ended up

parked all the way (then made a break in the stretch)- he does have some ability, and an easy trip could land

him on the ticket somewhere. (4) FUN MUNKY is just 1 for 32 but can't be ruled out for a minor piece. (5)

GDS THUNDER GB returns to YR after 2 Monti scores but he'll need to be a lot better than he was here on

11/28! (6) LOUIE HANOVER moves to a new barn after struggling for weeks with his previous trainer -

we'll see if the change of scenery helps.

RACE 4 - (6) CAPTAIN MAX HENRY was used hard before finishing 3rd in a 1:51 mile in NJ two back

(off the barn change) - effortlessly crushed a NW2 field in his YR debut and while this is a much better

bunch, he still feels like the one to knock off. (1) CLEVELAND B MIKI conceded at the start last week

and was also in a tough spot the week before that - the move inside should help him land an easy trip, with

a big chance at a nice chunk. (2) FADE TO LIGHT crushed at Monti off the barn change then was a nice

2nd here to the favorite last week- no reason he can't be in the hunt tonight, as well. (7) GANDOLF THE

BLACK lands a terrible post but he's been facing tougher, and does fit very well with these - chance to land

in the exotics if Dube can find him a manageable trip. (4) COALFORD BET ALINE is usually good for a

solid finish - the right trip could see him rally his way for a piece, but not a fan of that 3-1 ML price. Both

(3) ALWAYS A WAY and (5) CHIEF CORLEONE feel a little bit cheaper, but either could pick up a small

slice with an easy enough trip.

RACE 5 - (7) WHATS STANLEY GOT A had tailed a bit after a good run at the Open level - added Lasix

last week and looked very much like his better self, scoring impressively at this level - the class was opened

up to squeeze him (and #1) back in, and he may be able to make it 2 in a row, even starting from Post 7. (1)

ROCK DIAMONDS N came up 2nd best to FORTFY last week but still turned in another of his typically

sharp efforts (he's been solid for pretty much ALL of 2023!) - looking at another good trip tonight, and

likely another big chunk. (2) FORTIFY rebounded from a couple of lesser efforts to score on the front end

last week - may land on a tougher trip tonight, but his price will be fair and he CAN win again if things go

his way. (3) DEETZY has enjoyed an incredible season, and has held form very nicely even after being

claimed for $50K and taking on tougher ones since late October- definitely playable in exotics. (5) BLANK

STARE steps up to face tougher after back to back wins over lesser - can still grab a piece with these if he

lands on the right trip. (4) JIMMY CONNOR B lands in a solid field and is probably pushing his limits up

at this level - leaning to others. Both (6) VULCAN STAR N and (8) STRAIGHT UP COOL could use a

class drop AND better post!

RACE 6 - (2) PARADISE ROCK L was a nice "drop and pop" winner last week (one of the barn's FIVE

winners that night) - will be heavily favored to make it 2 in a row...and rightfully so. (5) SWEET SANDY

LOU chased the winner from the pocket last week, looked like a big threat turning for home but had to

settle for 2nd - could be a deja vu tonight. (3) BETTORSHIGHLIGHT N was in a hopeless spot last week

but can land somewhere on the ticket tonight with the move inside. (6) BLUEBIRD GRAF was 2nd best to

TERACITA in her local debut (no shame there!) then was a front end winner in her next - lost all chance

last week after an early miscue and may be able to rebound quickly tonight...of course she'll still need to

find a way to overcome the draw. (1) WINDSUN MOJITO ships in from The Meadows and does look like

she may be on the cheaper side...we'll see if moving to a new barn helps her enough to contend for a piece

in her YR debut. (7) BETTORBYTHESEASIDE was no factor in her local debut and has to contend with

Post 7 tonight, (4) BELLATRICKS' comeback (after a LONG time off) appears to have hit a snag - prefer

others. (8) NORMANS MADELINE seems pretty unlikely to have much say from out here.

RACE 7 - Good race: (5) MC ANGEL is always a good price despite having a win and 4 seconds from her

last 6 starts - her last victory came with Joe B. on board. and the pair are reuniting tonight - one of several

possibilities in a race with a few sharp players. (3) SALE EL SOL made an easy lead last week and had no

trouble picking up her 3rd win from the last 4 starts - gets Kakaley tonight (in Yannick's absence) but the

pair have done good work together in the past as well - the one to beat, but likely a very short price. (1)

ALWAYS B MIMI steps back up to 50s after dropping down and crushing the 20s last week - tougher task

for sure, but the rail may serve as a big equalizer - possible! (4) LOVE THAT SMILE put in a good first

over bid before tiring last week and was able to win off a live cover trip the week before - if she can land on

an easy trip tonight, she's another that could be in the mix. (6) BETTERB CHEVRON N sat the pocket and

was no match for the first 2 finishers last week - won't be any easier starting from Post 6 tonight. (2) SO

UTHWIND JAVA has some decent form in PA but she's missed 25 days and struggled at Yonkers in the

past - leaning towards others tonight. (7) LAURIE LEE can go with these with the right trip but tonight's

draw may leave her waiting for a better spot.

RACE 8 - (4) BRUE HANOVER came up 2nd best (from a tough post) in his local debut (behind a VERY

sharp WHATS STANLEY GOT A) but his mile was just a little disappointing, compared to some of his big

recent efforts in PA - gets a drop and better post for tonight, has a trip around the track, and feels like the

one to beat. (6) ADAM TWELVE saw his 4 race winning streak snapped last week after getting run down

to a :55.4 half by a 65-1 shot - he was still a dead game 2nd, and looms a dangerous player once again. (2)

KINGSVILLE was a well meant 3rd last week, but outmuscled to the wire for one of the top 2 spots - he's a

good fit here, and belongs in exotics. (3) C BET HANOVER sat an easy trip last week and finished strong

to be 2nd - steps up a bit, but a small piece is still within reach. (1) SAMHARA N is a little hard to gauge

form-wise at the moment but he drops and draws the pole, and that could put him in play for a minor award

(7) BENHOPE RULZ N came up flat last week and lands another terrible post for tonight - he does drop a

win off the bottom of his card after tonight, and will look better going forward with some class relief. (8)

BUDDY HILL is normally a good fit at this level but lands in a solid field here from Post 8 - tall task! (5)

KOOTENAY SANTANNA seems off his best form - sticking with others tonight.

RACE 9 - (4) SUGAR BRITCHES is 6-4-1-1 since arriving at Yonkers, has shown the ability to handle a

variety of trips and has 3 wins and a 2nd in her 4 tries in this class - meets a few legitimate foes in here, but

still deserves top billing. (1) PURE SILKY weakened in her first try at this level but was a close 3rd the

next start (finishing just behind the top choice) - came up 2nd best to the classy EASY TO PLEASE last

week, and should have a big say from the pole tonight. (2) LINE EM UP looked like a winner turning for

home last week but just couldn't go by the top choice in the sprint to the finish - we'll see if she can reverse

that decision tonight, or if she'll have to settle for a smaller piece once more. (3) MIKI BEACH pounced on

a beautiful trip last week to be an easy "pocket rocket" winner - this is a tougher field, so we'll see if she

built enough confidence to threaten these too. (5) LOOKATMYART failed badly trying to cut the mile two

back then landed in a terrible spot last week - she's capable of much better, and isn't a bad bomb for exotics.

(6) COMMANDER CATHY N picked up a 3rd last week but really should have been able to be 2nd with

her easy trip - the move outside (in this solid field) may leave her with only minor spoils tonight. (7) OKIN

AWA BEACH A was dull off the qualifier in her last and drops in for a tag tonight - good week to observe.

RACE 10 - (7) ICARUS FALLS N hasn't won since arriving from Monti 7 starts back but she's raced well

each time and has shown the ability to leave from the outside - may be worth a stab tonight if the price gets

juicy enough. (5) TUAPEKA JESSIE N was winless in her first 21 starts this year but is now 2 for 3 (with a

miscue) since being taken by our leading barn - very dangerous player! (4) FEELIN RED HOT let the

winner cut the mile last week and actually stayed on very nicely for 2nd - certainly very playable in exotics.

(2) BRONZE OVER N put in a nice rally to grab 2nd last week, even if way behind the winner - has to be

considered underneath again tonight. (1) DREAM DANCING was WAY overbet last week off the move

inside and really disappointed on the front end - needs to find her better game if she wants to be a player

here. (8) BROOKDALE JESSIE had plenty of pace finishing 2 back and was sneaky good at the end last

week - hard to see her overcoming the draw, however. (3) PRAY THE ROSARY just never seems to

deliver anymore - hard to keep making excuses for her. (6) EVAS SPORTS CZECH doesn't figure to have a

way to get near the action from this spot.

RACE 11 - (3) FLIRTIN JK didn't take long to come around for his new connections and ships in tonight

off a pair of sharp victories across the river- we'll hop on board for his local debut. (1) SURFSIDE BEACH

showed promise at 2, going 8-2-2-1 for $84K - continued to display that ability as a 3YO at times, but

could only manage $45K after never really finding his groove - recently moved to a new barn and after a

freshening, qualified very sharply last week with his trainer on board - check the tote board for clues. (6)

BLAZING BANNER N came up 2nd best to the top choice in his U.S. debut, then was used very hard last

week in his first Yonkers start, understandably weakening to 3rd - should be right back in the mix tonight.

(5) NOTED A has been doing very good work at Stga., and won with Meron at Tioga this summer - catches

a tough field for his local debut, but should still fit nicely. (2) HUNTING ZONE rallied very nicely for 4th

from a tough spot last week, and a small share is within reach here too. (8) ALTA CLASSIC A didn't live

up to his PRc lines in his first local attempt but he was racing off a bad date - way too soon to write him off,

though tonight's draw may leave him waiting for a better scenario. (4) CENTURY INSPECTOR was a

winner over much easier last week after turning the race into a training mile with VERY slow fractions -

this is a MUCH tougher assignment. (7) HUNGRY MAN is 5-0-0-0 locally and draws horribly after re-

qualifying in NJ.
