The Empire Report - Monday, June 6, 2022 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (1) BETTER BE OSCAR A kicked in just a little too late last week, coming up a nose shy on the

wire - he was away for a month prior to the start and now gets right back in the box, making his 2nd start

on Lasix for the sharpest barn on the planet - hard to pick against him from this spot. (4) OZONE BLUE

CHIP was an easy winner 2 back (2nd start off the claim) then was in a no chance spot last week - better

draw tonight, and should be a legitimate player with any decent trip. (5) EL JACKO N goes for a new barn

tonight after picking up a pair of wins, and narrow-loss 2nd in his last 3 starts - would certainly include

underneath. (3) FOREVER FAV is just 1 for 14 this year, and doesn't seem to deserve being installed as the

2-1 ML favorite - ok to use underneath, but hard to recommend for the top slot. (6) BALLERAT BOOMER

NG has some solid tries at this level but draws outside and is just 1 for 33 here over the last 2 years - ok

bomb for 3rd. (2) ALOTBETTOR N picked up a win and a 2nd recently but vs. softer - has to step up his

game if he hopes to be a player against these. (7) SOMEBEACH BARON was struggling when he left here

in March but has been doing better upstate for a new trainer - tough spot for his YR return, and we'll lean to

others, for now. (8) WEONA SIZZLER A is sharp right now, but tends to struggle from these outside spots.

RACE 2 - Good race: (2) ROLLING WITH SAM has been almost unrecognizable since joining this barn,

picking up 4 wins and 2 close 2nds in his 6 starts since the claim - came up a little short on the wire last

time, but the 3 weeks off may have played a role - give him the narrow edge as he looks to get back to the

winner's circle. (1) MAJOR BETTS finished full of pace from an impossible spot last week, and does seem

to be really clicking right now - might have gone with him as the top choice if not for his 1 for 17 YR slate

over the past 2 years. (3) FEELIN WESTERN looked like he might be tailing but was right back on his best

game last week, charging home to beat the top choice on the money - remains a very legitimate threat. (4)

HEISMAN PLAYER struggled a bit first over last week but still wasn't far back at the end - the right trip

could land him in the winner's circle. (6) GLENGARRY KNIGHT N can hold his own at this level, but the

outside draw figures to limit him to just a smaller share tonight. (7) CHANGE STRIDE N has been on what

seems like an eternal form spree, but tonight's class hike AND terrible draw figure to hurt his chances

significantly. (5) OUR MAX PHACTOR may need a class drop before we see his best.

RACE 3 - (1) ANOTHRMASTRPIECE N earned nearly $400K Down Under so it was no surprise to see

him take his U.S. debut as the odds on choice - looked even more impressive with last week's 1:51.2 score,

and looms the one to beat once more, as he looks for 3 in a row. (4) LONG WEEKEND A threw a bit of a

dud 2 back but rebounded with a sharp mile last week, coming up 2nd best to the sharp front end winner -

can pick up another nice piece tonight. (2) MOONLIGHT SHADOW has 2 wins, a 2nd and a 3rd the last 4

times he drew inside - no reason he shouldn't race well tonight, and is a good one to include underneath. (7)

RHODENA ROAD was a winner 3 back in a big wake up call effort, then raced well from impossible spots

in his last pair - draws horribly once again, but is a good bomb for the bottom of exotics (looking for some

trip luck). (5) UNCLE JORD A found some better form after dropping to the lower levels a few starts back,

and seems to be holding that form - another candidate for a small share. (3) SHNEONUCRZYDIAMND A

was a form reversing winner 3 back, then raced ok in his 2 starts after that - seems a notch below the top

ones, but a minor piece is within reach. (6) HES ELECTRIC has been picking up smaller checks most

weeks and not racing all that badly - not sure he can find a way into the hunt tonight, though. (8) GAMBLI

NGTERROR was no good at all last week, and now lands Post 8.

RACE 4 - (3) PYRO moves back up to NW30000 but should be feeling pretty good about himself after

winning his last pair (and both horses he beat at Chester last start came back to win their next starts here at

Yonkers) - he's visited the photographer here many times, and may be able to pay him another visit tonight.

(7) JOESSTAR OF MIAA has won multiple Opens so tonight's class drop is meaningful - had plenty of

pace finishing last week, and looms a very real threat, despite Post 7. (2) FUNKNWAFFLES is a bit of an

"x factor" tonight as he drops out of the Open, and makes his 3rd start off the layoff - might jump up with a

much better effort here. (4) ALEX TYE was off to a fabulous start in 2022 then hit a snag for a while - he's

been back on the upswing lately, and did finish well last week despite some poor cover - ok for exotics. (6)

VELOCITY KOMODO just wasn't up to the very hard use from Post 8 last week - will most likely be

handled much more conservatively tonight, and that may leave him a little too far back to make his late

rally pay off. (1) SHADOW CAT definitely prefers to be in a bit cheaper, but the rail draw does give him a

shot to tow along for a minor share. (8) MIKES Z TAM is actually good right now, but doesn't have too

many good options from all the way out here. (5) BIG SIR can get a pass for last week's disaster but we

would still like to see a rebound mile before hopping back onto his team.

RACE 5 - (7) BRONX SEELSTER went through a rough patch but came to life when 3rd at Chester 2

back, then built off that with last week's local victory - he was able to overcome Post 7 in that last win, and

he definitely has a chance to do it again tonight. (2) COALITION HANOVER shipped in sharp from PcD

then came up 2nd best to PYRO - followed that up with another strong effort last week (even though

disqualified to 5th), and could easily be a serious threat again tonight. (3) RAUKAPUKA RULER N was

slow to come around this year but he grabbed a win on 4/19, and did finish with good pace in his last - not a

bad spot to include him in exotics. (4) VIRGIN STORM was too far back to get involved last week but his

overall form has been steady, and he gets some post relief for tonight - can grab a share with the right trip.

(1) STELLAR YANKEE may be a little on the cheaper side but he's pretty good right now, and his barn has

come to life lately - rail draw makes him one of several with a chance to pick up a decent slice in here. (6)

GINGRAS BEACH found late life for a piece of 2nd last week, and his barn is always dangerous - will

need some racing luck with the outside draw, though. (8) GROOVY JOE wasn't bad at the end last week

but he figures to be stuck too far back once again tonight - waiting for a better draw before considering him

more seriously. (5) BET ON BLAKE is hard to gauge against these tough older foes - will keep an eye on

him this week for future consideration.

RACE 6 - (3) WILD AND CRAZY GUY didn't bring his very best last week and had to settle for 3rd...but

he's gone so many BIG efforts recently, he certainly deserves a chance to make amends - sticking with him

tonight. (1) ON HIGHER GROUND had really been struggling and also was coming off a sick scratch

heading into last week....but he was able to reverse form in a big way, responding to aggressive handling

and scoring the 7-1 upset - will be a threat once again with a similar effort, but the price will also come way

down -- hard to hop on board now, if you missed the boat last week. (6) SEVENTIER landed on a terrible

trip last week but was still trotting well at the end - he definitely fits with these, and can be much closer

with a smoother journey. (8) VINNY DE VIE is on his best game right now, finishing a close 2nd last week

after beating (cheaper) easily in his prior 2 local starts - will need plenty of luck from Post 8 tonight, but

that 20-1 ML price does make him worth considering! (2) BIZET continues to pick up smaller pieces every

week and should be able to do the same tonight - will need to improve for a chance at a top prize, though.

(4) STEUBEN HANOVER is another that has been settling for lesser awards recently, and seems destined

for a similar fate tonight. (7) SO LONG HANOVER probably needs a much better post to be a threat

against these - wait for a better scenario. (5) GEMOLOGIST seems to need easier to show his best stuff.

RACE 7 - (1) SONNY WEAVER N had no problem making the top from Post 6 last week and wiring these

easily (as the odds on choice) with a sharp 1:51.3 mile - moves all the way inside now, and looms a very

short priced repeater. (2) SOHO LENNON A was stuck in the back with no chance the last 2 weeks but was

an easy front end winner the week before that - he's looking at a close up trip tonight, and that should help

him take home a nice chunk of this. (4) IM A GIGOLO N charged home for 2nd from well back at Chester

two back, then finished with good pace from an impossible spot here last week - sharp enough to do some

damage here, if he can find a decent journey. (7) ROCKIN M flew home for 2nd (from WAY back) in 3 of

his last 4 starts - clearly on his game right now, but his chances would really go up if he could improve

position at the start. (5) EXPLOIT was a big earner at 2, but had a somewhat disappointing season at 3 -

he's enjoying a fine year so far as a 4YO, ships in from PcD off a pair of excellent efforts - we'll see how he

does tonight against some solid older foes. (8) TOOKADIVEOFFDIPPER is probably too far out to do any

serious damage but he does retain Yannick....who is never shy about taking a shot from the outside - decent

bomb for underneath, if you think he may try to leave. (3) WINDSUN RICKY can never be counted out,

but he does seem to need to be in a bit easier to do his best work these days. (6) ON THE CARDS N just

hasn't been on his game, and seems up against it vs. these right now.

RACE 8 - (4) SPEED MAN N has been sharp for a VERY long time, and last week was no exception -

may end up with the best trip among the main players in here, and that could be what gets him back to the

winner's circle. (6) PRICELESS BEACH has been razor sharp ever since arriving from Canada in April,

and became an Open winner for the first time last week - not sure he deserved to be assigned Post 6 off that

one narrow victory, but he definitely has a chance to repeat, despite the outside. (2) BEE TWO BEE held

his own all through the Borgata Series, then was a winner here (vs. a little cheaper) right after that - returns

from Fhd. off a very impressive score, and looms a very legitimate threat, especially with the inside draw.

(5) MR DS ROCK has been holding form for some time, and rallied well for 4th last week - may end with a

tough trip from this spot, however. (3) LOUS SWEETREVENGE is very sharp right now, but may be a

notch below the top ones....still a possibility for a good piece, though. (1) PAT STANLEY N was an

excellent roll for quite a while, but comes into tonight having failed to pick up a check in his last 4 starts -

we'll see if he can reverse form with the rail assignment.

RACE 9 - (8) BETTERROCK shipped in very sharp from NJ and went a BIG effort last week, looking like

a winner into the stretch only to get out muscled late by NONE BETTOR A - he'll be a much better price

this week and while plenty of racing luck will be needed from out here, he still feels like a good value play.

(4) NONE BETTOR A was able to fend off the top pick last week in a gutsy front end performance -

Bartlett stays on board, and the classy 9YO certainly has a license to repeat. (1) MACH N CHEESE has

come back to life since the recent barn change, and is looking at a good trip from the pole - he'd really be

no surprise at all. (6) MULLINAX was heavily backed last week arriving from The Swamp and held well

for 2nd after getting worn down by ANOTHRMASTRPIECE N - could be looking at a tough trip here, but

he's another that figures to be offering good value...making him worth a look. (3) REIGNING DEO really

sharpened in his last few starts, and may be good enough to hold his own with this solid bunch - willing to

include underneath, hoping to see his good late rally. (2) REAL PEACE ended up 3rd in all 3 starts since

arriving in May, and will need to be sharper tonight if he's hoping for an even bigger piece. (5) WICHITA

LINEMAN couldn't hang on vs. cheaper 2 back, then hung late after a pocket trip last week - prefer others

tonight. (7) ALWAYS AND AGAIN fits well with these, but faces an uphill battle from Post 7.

RACE 10 - (6) IM SOME GRADUATE has raced very well in most of his recent starts....no real surprise

considering the barn he hails from -- was an easy winner last start but he's been away for 3 weeks, and

moves from the pole to Post 6 - he still deserves top billing, but make sure to get a decent price if using him

on top. (3) BELTANE A failed to get in the hunt last week but that was on the heels of a win and a 2nd in

his 2 previous starts - moves inside, and the veteran has 10 local wins over the past year and a half...one to

consider. (1) LYONS KING came up 2nd best to the top choice in his last, and is looking at a good trip

tonight - definitely has a chance but he needed a perfect trip for his only recent win, and he may get overbet

tonight. (5) PRINCE MCARDLE N hasn't been the most reliable performer but he did win at this level not

too long ago, and he figures to be a decent price - worth a look? (2) WAR N MUNN has been very

consistent at PcD but he's also just 1 for 15 this year, and he's 0 for 8 at Yonkers over the past 2 seasons - ok

to use underneath. (7) ROCKATHON made an easy lead last week and was able to take 'em wire to wire -

don't think he'll be quite as fortunate tonight, however. (4) PATRIOT NATION has been doing his best

work with softer, and may struggle a bit returning to Yonkers at this higher level.

RACE 11 - (6) STONEBRIDGE GAMBLE couldn't hold off the sharp tripsitter last week but may have

been a little short after being away for 3 weeks - his record as this level is strong (4-2-2-0), and he moves to

another sharp barn for tonight - solid player. (4) SWISS HOUSE ONFIRE does his best work on (or at least

near) the lead, and he'll have his first chance to get there tonight in some time - look for a strong mile here.

(3) EMOTIONS RICHES really fell apart last week after being used hard, unable to deliver for his new

connections - definitely too soon to write him off after that one disappointing effort, and his price will be a

bit better this time - worth a look? (7) MUSCLE JACK has done a much better job behaving since adding

hobbles 5 starts back, and has a couple of wins along the way - he did tire a bit in his last, but he's eligible

to bounce back with a better effort tonight - tough post, though. (5) TORKIL has put together a good year

so far, already earning nearly as much as he did in 2021, in only 1/3 of the starts - always ok to include

underneath with these. (2) FASHION FOREVER hasn't been as sharp lately, but he draws well and may be

able to grab a small piece, with the right trip. (8) ALL CHAMPY faces a long haul from out here - wait for

a better spot. (1) MIGHTY SURF picked up a 3rd two weeks ago but just seems a bit below these.

RACE 12 - Tough finale! (6) SPLASH BROTHER put in a good bid in last week's Open but couldn't

sustain it in the final 1/8th of a mile - draws poorly for tonight, but maybe the class drop will be enough to

get him over the hump in this difficult race to decipher. (1) ROCK CANDY was racing in the Open not

long ago, and returns to Yonkers off a nice with at Plainridge last week - his barnmates have been holding

their own since the owner became the listed trainer recently, and this guy could be a big player from this

spot if he brings his best. (4) NO LOU ZING was a big earner as a youngster but has had a tougher time as

a 4 and 5YO - his form has improved since the recent barn change, and it does feel like just a matter of time

before he finds the winner's circle for his new connections - maybe tonight? (3) WALKINSHAW N may be

a notch below these, but he's usually pacing well late and a hot battle up front would give him at least a

chance to rally for a good piece...at a nice price. (2) DINA BOLT N hit board in his last 6 starts, but hasn't

made it to the winner's circle during that period - use underneath. (7) KEYSTONE PHOENIX has been en

fuego since moving to the hottest barn on the planet, winning all 4 starts by large margins - he'll be facing

much tougher tonight (from Post 7), and we'll see how much that slows him down. (5) TRACEUR HANO

VER is 5-3-1-0 since the recent barn change, but he's also taking a big step up here...hard to say if he can

maintain that form against these. (8) ESCAPETOTHBEACH is doing good work right now but has the

misfortune of drawing Post 8 in a strong field - not sure how much damage he can do tonight.
