The Empire Report - Tuesday, August 31, 2021 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - Tough opener: (6) ALLGONOWHOA came to life for the Super Siblings and won his last 2 in

this class - exits that mega-high % barn tonight but moves an outfit that has been winning at a very high

clip (from limited stock) since arriving here this summer - we'll see if he can keep his modest winning

streak going from Post 6. (4) COACH CAL is an interesting bomb - raced ok for 3rd for a new barn last

start, and that trainer also grabbed a win with Mister Hat last week...at 20-1 ML, willing to at least give him

a look. (7) RISKY MILLION has a few ok tries lately and moves to a new barn for tonight - Post 7 and his

0 for 25 record this year are causes for concern, however. (3) ENERGYZONE HANOVER has picked up a

bunch of smaller pieces in recent weeks - seems destined for the same tonight. (5) GOTHIC ROCK drops

down to an easier spot after a tough trip vs. the 15s in last - eligible to come up with an improved effort, at

a pretty big price. (8) AMERICAN NITRO was 2nd to a sharp winner last week and has 2 wins from 7

starts here this year - tends to be inconsistent, and will also have to overcome Post 8...insist on a pretty

good price if using on top. (1) ART HISTORY was pretty weak in his first start off the claim and drops

below the claim price after that one start - hard to back with any confidence tonight. (2) QUICK ASA

TRICK N has actually regressed in his two starts for a barn that has been IMPROVING horses dramatically

- not sure what to expect from him!

RACE 2 - Very evenly matched race! (1) ELS DISCO JOHNNY put in a big blitz two back for the "brush

and crush" victory, but was unable to replicate that effort in his last - draws best, and he can beat these IF he

finds that effort again. (3) MAJOR SHOW returns from Pocono off a bunch of "ok" tries - in his start here

on 6/13 he absolutely flew home, and would have won had he not made a late miscue...worth a look if the

price is right. (7) LINDYSALWAYSTHINKN just missed in his local debut after a 3rd at PcD - should be a

nice price from out here, and he'll have a shot if Bartlett can put him in play. (4) RAILIN JENNINGS has

picked up smaller pieces in his last 5 starts after beating a Maiden filed here on 6/22 - one to include in

exotics. (8) OLD TOWN ROAD is as good as any of these but is stuck with Post 8...not a bad one for

longshot fans. (2) STELLAR FELLER shows a couple of recent Indiana wins, even if facing lesser - moves

to one of the most promising young trainers in the business as she adds another high profile owner (the

Planos) to her ever growing list of clients - not impossible! (5) COLD DECKED was right there 2nd last

week as he continues to look for his first career win - would hardly be a surprise. (6) SOLID ALIBI is

being picked "last", but was just sent off at 4/5 two starts back and finished 2nd - that's how wide open this

race is.

RACE 3 - (2) MAJOR BUCKS has been pretty solid lately, and had to settle for 2nd last week to a "first

time Super Siblings" winner (no shame there) - just 1 for 24 this year, but catches a questionable filed and

maybe able to double his win output tonight. (5) RANSOM DEMAND bumped up to 20s last week after a

sharp win in 15s and was a solid 3rd, holding for 3rd after a first over trip (same race where the top choice

finished 2nd) - legit player again tonight. (1) MACH TIME N showed a bit more life last week and it would

be reasonable to look for him to improve even more tonight....but he's tough to endorse on top as the 2-1

ML favorite! (7) RECORD MACHINE is pretty good right now but lands another bad post and may

struggle to get involved, once again. (6) BLACKTREE would look much better in 15s. but still has a shot

to grab a small piece with these. (8) POCKET WATCH N made a big mistake NOT leaving last week, but

raced well from a no prayer spot - was claimed that night and now moves up to 20s for his new connections

while also drawing Post 8 - brutal spot! (4) PEMBROKE JOEY has 5 wins this year but just hasn't been

sharp in some time. (3) FOREVEENALWAYS was empty last week after doing little for his previous barn -

needs to pick up his game considerably.

RACE 4 - (2) DELIGHTFUL TERROR was out every step in a 1:51.2 mile last week and still lasted for a

check, losing by only about 6 lengths - drops to the basement, and this feels like a winning spot for him. (5)

THE WILD CARD showed much better life last week dropping to NW7500 when 2nd to the sharp winner -

drops to the bottom level tonight, and would have been the strong choice if not for the presence of #2. (4)

TITANIUM N is as camera shy as they come but he's been racing decently lately, picking up smaller pieces

- good one to use for 3rd/4th. (6) MACINTOSH N is another that usually isn't a threat to win, but CAN

pick up his share of smaller pieces - ok to include underneath. (7) RETOUR AU JEU re-qualified nicely

after taking 5 weeks off - season has sputtered a bit after a promising start, and Post 7 won't help his cause

tonight - still, not a bad one to include for 3rd/4th. (1) FIREBALL had to re-qualify after failing to function

in his first start off the claim -was already having a very tough 2021 season, and it's hard to know what to

expect from him tonight. (3) BETTOR CAT took no $$ in his first start for a new barn and offered little -

inclined to pass tonight as well. (8) SUNSETBOOZECRUISE lands all the way outside again - was unable

to get involved last week, and faces a similar scenario tonight.

RACE 5 - (6) HIPPESTCATINTOWN has been doing good things out of town and now moves to a barn

that routinely picks up horses up dramatically, immediately upon coming under their care - not an easy spot

by any means, but still deserving of top billing. (2) JESSICAS BEACH BOY caused a couple of recalls last

week and just wasn't right from the start - willing to just ignore that line and look for him to rebound back

to the fine tries he's made since joining this red hot barn - legit player. (1) HIS BEATS HANOVER had a

rough patch from mid-June but seems to have gotten his act together now, rattling off a few good recent

starts including last week's victory after the barn change - deserves plenty of respect from the pole. (7)

LARRY LINCOLN N showed plenty of potential in his first U.S. qualifier, then raced well in his debut off

a very conservative steer - import seems ready to win, but lands a tough post in a solid field and may have

to settle for a smaller piece...for now. (3) KEYSTONE NOLAN is a weekly contender but now just 1 for 11

locally - meets a few sharp newcomers tonight, and likely looking at a smaller share this time around. (5)

NORTHERN BACCARAT is a strong 4-2-1-1 locally but the newcomers in this field seem tougher than

what he's used to facing - may have a tougher time this week. (4) SARANAC BLUE CHIP has done good

work here this year (10-2-4-0) but is another that's used to battling a bit softer overall crew - maybe can

land a minor share? (8) SCOTT ONTHE ROCKS jumps from NW2 to NW4 while also drawing Post 8 -

have a feeling he's going to struggle from out here.

RACE 6 - (3) LYONS NIGHT HAWK has raced well here in the past, and lands in a very winnable spot

returning from Pocono - deserves top billing against these. (1) WARDAN EXPRESS A wasn't great in his

last couple but raced very well 3 and 4 starts back - drops, draws the pole, and looms a very live player. (2)

CAPTAIN CASH flashed big speed in his last couple of starts but wasn't strong enough at the end - if

Pantaleano can find a way to get him to relax a bit more, his chances would go up considerably. (4) ABER

DEEN HANOVER just wasn't on his game last week - he's capable of better, and it's a good sign that he's

right back in the box - chance to rebound and grab a piece of this. (5) OURLITTLEGENERAL A can be

tough to predict from week to week but he did win here on 6/15, and won at The swamp on 7/24...ok piece.

(7) BALLERAT BOOMERANG is good right now, but draws outside while moving up in class - not sure

he'll be able to reach tonight. (6) MOTIVE HANOVER probably needs to be in a bit cheaper to strut his

best stuff - outside draw doesn't help either. (8) YAYAS HOT SPOT remains winless on the years (0 for 23)

and is stuck all the way outside - sticking with others.

RACE 7 - (2) ROLL WITH TIME was a steady 4th in a good field here on 8/3 - gets a total pass for his

next (horror trip), then raced fine at Chester in his last - lands in a good spot returning to The Hilltop, and

may even be a decent price tonight. (5) DEAL THE CARDS is 4 for 4 since returning from the long layoff

but will be facing a tougher crew tonight - still deserves plenty of respect, but that win streak is definitely in

jeopardy here. (1) SHINY BLACK BEAMER seems off his best game right now - may bounce back with a

big one from this spot, but just seems a bit vulnerable at the moment. (6) GONNAHAVEONEMORE was a

good 3rd last week despite a less than stellar trip - was the best effort we've seen from him, so perhaps he

can build off that and grab a nice piece tonight too. (7) CAPTIVATE HANOVER is very sharp for a hot

barn, but may land on a tough journey from all the way out here - would still include underneath, though.

(3) LATISSIMUS HANOVER was well meant off the claim last week but got way too hot on the lead and

eventually folded - chances would go up tonight if Kakaley can get him to relax a bit more. (4) ARTIST

BEST comes into this with 3 wins in his last 4 starts but he'll be facing better now, and has to prove that he

can race as well with this caliber.

RACE 8 - Tough race! (7) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK left last week but grabbed up when a rival broke in

front of him and broke himself -he's been doing good work in 2021 (after missing 2020), and probably

deserves another shot. (8) BILL HALEY N is very sharp right now (for a hot barn), just pulled off a 32-1

upset at Pocono 2 back and will be a big price again tonight - good value horse? (4) IM BENICIO A

stopped functioning for weeks but instantly turned things around after being moved to probably the

sharpest newcomer in the business right now - fits perfectly here, and looms a major danger (1) TOPVILLE

OLYMPIAN used a pocket trip to score one level down in last - another good trip puts him right back in the

hunt. (6) FLYINGEVENBETTOR N is sharp right now and that last effort is sharper than it looks - not sure

what trip he'll get here, but he can land a piece if it's a good one. (3) BENOPE RULZ N doesn't win too

often but he was 2nd in his last 2 starts at this level - chance for a piece again tonight. (5) MYKINDAC

HIP does his best work with a bit cheaper and even then, he rarely wins - prefer others this week. (2)

INDICTABLE HANOVER picked up a win over lesser 2 back but was no factor in his last even before the

stretch miscue.

RACE 9 - Another tough race: (8) IDEAL ARTILLERY has been on his game lately, races very well for

Bongiorno, can race on OR off the pace, and he'll be a big price from Post 8 - good bomb to take a shot

with in a wide open affair. (5) DIAMONDBEACH has only one start in 45 days but when he's on his game,

he's a good fit here - barn has popped horses in similar situations in the past, and this guy will be a good

price here - possible. (6) OAKWOODINITOWINIT IR was much better in his 2nd start for a new barn last

week, and can build off that effort tonight - a live trip makes him a legitimate player. (7) J B MAUNEY N

has done good things since arriving in the U.S. this summer - would seem to be a good fit with these, but he

gets no luck with the draw for his YR debut - willing to include as long as the price is right. (3) GAMBLIN

GTERROR has been an overachiever, often outracing his odds - always a good one to include underneath.

(4) CAPTAIN SLEAZE had no excuse last time (at 3/5) but he's capable of better - will probably be

overbet again, but he does have a chance. (1) ROLLING WITH SAM raced ok in his last couple but he

seems a bit overmatched here, even from the pole - his 1 for 19 local record doesn't inspire much

confidence either. (2) LINNYCALLEDFRANKIE blasted to a good spot from Post 7 last week but got

exhausted chasing the blazing pace - could use a very conservative trip here to gain some confidence back.

RACE 10 - (2) ALL HANDS ON DECK went off at 94-1 at Chester on 7/23, probably because he was 0

for 12 on the year, and just 1 for 29 over the past 2 season - he was then purchased by the Dynamic Duo,

sent off at 8/5 in his first Yonkers start and predictably improved dramatically, wiring the field easily... but

that was just an appetizer for what was to come in his next start, where he unleashed a powerful sweep

from the back that resulted in a drawing away victory, in a lifetime best 1:51.2 mile -- moves up another

notch tonight, and it would be hard to play against him in his current form! (1) MARK WITHA K blasted

from Post 8 vs. better last week, sat pocketed to the favorite and was a strong 2nd best - drops down AND

draws the pole tonight...and would have been the clear choice had he not drawn in with new and improved

ALL HANDS ON DECK. (3) MAROMA BEACH has done good work since the recent claim, and has a

good chance to take home another good piece tonight. (4) FULLBACK rarely wins and definitely likes to

be in cheaper - he also has one good move in him, and may be able to use it to grab a small piece here. (5)

BETTER UP beat this class here at a big price on 6/25 - returns from Monti in decent form, and may have a

chance to grab a small piece. (6) MELODIES MAJOR is in a good way right now but moves up in class off

the win, goes from rail to 6 hole, and has several live foes to his inside. (7) MIGHTY SANTANA N ships

in from Tioga off a pair of wins vs. cheaper - might have given him some more consideration had he not

drawn so far outside. (8) AIR FORCE HANOVER wasn't bad from an impossible spot in last...but lands in

yet another impossible spot tonight.

RACE 11 - (2) PATERNITY SUIT shows 4 recent wins right on the program (including in 2 of his last 3

PcD starts), lands in a reasonable spot and draws inside - Bartlett should be able to get him to the lead early

and he'll be the one to knock off. (3) GLOBALDOMINATION N has been sharp lately, gets both post and

class relief and should have a big say in the outcome - legit threat. (4) AWESOMENESS is feeling good

right now, and seems sharp enough to handle the class bump - belongs in exotics. (1) SANTAFES COACH

got a big drop at PcD last start, was hammered down to 2/5 and was able to deliver - moves way back up

returning to YR, and is looking at a smaller piece, even from the pole. (5) EPIC ACE wasn't on his game

last week and draws outside 4 main foes tonight - will need to look for an easy trip, and hope to grab a

minor share. (6) DANCIN DRAGON shows that win 3 back but that was his only "good" mile in some

time - prefer others. (7) FIZZING N could use a cheaper class and better post - wait for a better spot. (8)

VIRGIN STORM was unable to build off that win 2 back - brutal spot for tonight.

RACE 12 - (6) REBELLIOUS ships in for a live barn and will be getting some class relief - the 7YO

shows 18 wins over the last 2 years, and is worth a stab in the finale, even coming off a miscue in his last.

(1) THE DOWNTOWN BUS seemed to be in a good spot last week but just didn't show up on his best

game - drops right back in the box, and probably deserves another shot. (5) ELWELL still hasn't been able

to grab a win since taking his first start of the year off a long layoff - did finish 2nd in his last pair, so

maybe he's getting closer? (8) REDBANK BLAZE A was a solid winner last week - not really concerned

about the class jump, but Post 8 could definitely cause him some trouble. (4) QUATRAIN BLUE CHIP

hasn't been the most reliable horse lately but his best effort would at least make him a threat here. (3)

KNOCKING AROUND can show up for a piece when the trip goes his way. (2) WAIMAC ATTACK N is

just 1 for 30 here at YR - hard to consider for anything but a minor share. (7) BIG SIR was actually pretty

good last week but this just feels like a tough spot for him to get involved from.
