The Empire Report - Thursday, August 5, 2021 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (3) E R HILARY went a big effort in defeat 2 back and an even better one in last week's victory

- should be able to work out a decent trip from this spot, and she's definitely on her game right now...faces a

couple of tough foes in here, but does deserve top billing (8) CORAL BELLA was on our radar screen after

showing some life 3 back, and then was impressive winning her next two starts (at a juicy price, last week)

- she's shown that she CAN blast to the top from outside posts, and she'll probably be able to do it again

tonight - but she'll also be a lot shorter price now. (1) AMERICAN TOUR N was a bit improved 2 back and

followed that up with a crisp rally for a close 3rd in last - she's a logical threat with the rail draw tonight,

but Miller needs to avoid revving her up too much early on (that doesn't always work for her). (4)

ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX enjoyed the class drop last week and was a solid 3rd - good chance to grab

another piece tonight. (6) SALLY FLETCHER A was really bothered early on last week and gets a total

pass - decent value horse to include on the bottom of the ticket. (2) FEAR MY SHADOW usually is a good

fit at this level but didn't seem as sharp in her last couple - we'll see if she bounces back with a better try

tonight. (5) BETABCOOL N is just 1 for 26 here (last 3 years) and made a break in her last - prefer others.

(7) SWEET MOVES has been even going at best - hard to like from all the way out here.

RACE 2 - (8) YUCATAN PARTY MAN may be 0 for 21 but he does have some ability, and did hit board

in 13 of those losses - he gets a pretty massive driver switch to Bongiorno tonight, and that should help him

finally get his picture taken...even from Post 8. (7) CANE GANG showed major improvement when an

excellent 2nd two back, but made a couple of breaks on a sloppy track in last - he'll be a nice price here,

and isn't a bad one to consider for exotics. (3) KEYSTONE CECILIA showed some solid form on the "B"

tracks in Canada and should be a good fit here - would expect her to have at least a say in the outcome. (2)

CHERRY MASON is listed as the 2-1 ML favorite despite a 1 for 19 record, and despite getting beat after

getting over the half in 1:04 last week - willing to include underneath, but certainly no value for the top

slot. (5) SV ROYAL FLUSH has some speed, usually stays trotting, but just doesn't finish well enough -

needs to find more in the final 1/8th of a mile. (6) SQUABLE hinted at some improvement recently but

squandered his best chance at winning a race last week - draws outside tonight, and that will probably limit

his involvement. (4) TBTWELVE hasn't shown anything so far in 3 starts this year - waiting for some

better signs. (1) VICTORY YANKEE is 11-0-1-0 to start his career, and not looking too good lately.

RACE 3 - (4) CASH ROLL (a NYSS winner here at 2) is used to facing much better, in general - she's had

a few tough trips at Ocean Downs lately, and should be a solid threat against these with a better journey. (5)

SOUND IDEA was sent off at 2/5 off the class drop last week and came up 2nd best to CORAL BELLA

(with no excuses) - she'll be a much better price tonight if you forgive her last, and expect to see her back

on her "A Game". (3) VELOCITY MCSWEETS hasn't clicked in 3 starts since shipping east from Cali.,

and she's also missed some time - willing to throw her in underneath. (6) QUITE A DELIGHT N can be

very inconsistent, and tough to predict from week to week - at 20-1 ML, no problem throwing her onto the

bottom of the ticket. (8) ALKIPPE generally races well when down at this bottom level but faces a tall task

from Post 8 tonight - maybe she can rally for a minor share? (2) PAPPY ROCKS has been a complete bust

since the April claim - still waiting for ANY kind of good signs! (1) LIME TWIST has speed and the rail

but just seems a bit cheap for these. (7) MACHIN MARLEY has 1 win in 29 starts (last 2 years) and that

was at the bottom level at Monti - seems buried here.

RACE 4 - Tough race: (1) VINYASA might have lost some interest last week after being trapped too long

behind a tiring leader - have to believe Zeron will look to control the action from this spot, and this filly

does have some ability when on her best game - gets top billing, but wouldn't bet the ranch on her. (2)

CHARMING BANK was a sharp winner for a new barn in his local debut - solid rally for 3rd from well

back in his next, but went offstride in his last - good spot to be a player if he can mind his manners tonight.

(3) BACARDI showed good promise in his 2YO starts but has been late to get back to the races at 3, and

tired in his qualifier - maybe a check of the tote board is in order? (4) INFINITE ZETTE was 2nd last week

but really mostly thanks to his trip - has a chance against this crew, but definitely not worth a short price.

(5) EXCHEQUER rallied nicely in last off the qualifier, and may be headed in the right direction - should

be a nice price, and not a bad one to consider, if spreading. (8) CANTABSLEADINGLADY looks like a

decent fit with these, but faces a rough assignment from Post 8 - maybe a minor share? (7) SAN

CRISTOBAL debuts for a new barn but lands Post 7 off a bad date - prefer to just watch for now. (6) BLUE

DEVIL makes his 2nd start for a trainer that has suddenly become a major force on the local scene, with

limited stock - just seems well below the main players, however.

RACE 5 - (3) ANNABETH finally gets some post relief after being stuck outside for what seemed like an

eternity - she was a winner the last time she was at this level (wire to wire) and looms a threat to beat these

again. (1) J ROCKIN B didn't have the best looking form shipping back in last week but she was hammered

at the windows and delivered a dominant front end score vs. cheaper - deserves plenty of respect tonight,

even moving up in class. (2) IDEAL CLASSIC rallied for 2nd behind #1 last time, and draws better tonight

- unpredictable mare would have a shot to beat these IF she shows up on her game AND lands on a good

trip. (7) PETTYCOAT BUSINESS hasn't won since taking the M Life Final in March, but still has to be

feared at this level - hard to get excited about a wager, though, when listed as the ML favorite from Post 7.

(4) SEZANA N has thrown some good speed tries this year but she's now 0 for 18 on the season, and

getting harder to use on top. (5) ALL ABOUT AMY rallied nicely in both starts since the recent claim -

chance for another piece...and maybe a big one if the trip goes her way. (6) FRANSCHOEK just hasn't

resembled the horse that recently won 3 straight since leaving the Dynamic Duo - hard to like her chances

from Post 6. (8) FOX VALLEY CHARLIZ figures to be too far back to have much impact here.

RACE 6 - (2) SEVENTIER won 4 of 5 starts before being a bit overmatched in a NYSS race last week -

unfortunately, that race he lost was a total clunker here at Yonkers as the 1/5 favorite - the track was off that

night, and perhaps that's why he was no good...but it's just hard to label him a "cinch" in here - will

obviously be very tough if anywhere near his top form this time. (6) SOOT HANOVER was a very

impressive winner last week and that gave him 3 wins in his last 4 starts - could be next in line should the

top one falter. (1) REEL EM IN impressed when 2nd in his first local start but was just "ok" when 3rd in

his next pair - no chance 7 hole in last but the move inside makes him a legit contender again. (8) SJS

LADY LOU wasn't at her best when 2nd last week and has some legitimate ability when she stays trotting -

not a bad one for longshot fans. (4) PANTHERAAS looks good on paper for a top trotting barn but a closer

look shows that she's just 3 for 41 lifetime - tough one to use on top. (5) CHERRY RED continues to pick

up smaller pieces - probably not a threat to win, but always ok to use underneath. (7) BABY MAKER

HANOVER fits ok with these, but will probably have to wait for a better spot to be a serious player. (3)

BRILLIANT BOB was dull last time off a sick scratch - will continue to watch for better signs.

RACE 7 - Very tough race! (3) BOLT OF BEAUTY shipped in from Tioga on 7/15 showing 3 straight

wins and immediately showed she belonged, charging home to just miss to MONICA GALLAGHER -

probably would have been right there the next week as well, but she stepped on a wheel on the final turn

and made a very costly miscue....stayed tight with an easy win at Batavia and may be looking at a nice trip

tonight in her YR return...decent value play. (2) DBLDELITEBRIGADE N seemed to really be peaking

heading into the Matchmaker Series but then her form fell off quickly - appears to be getting sharp again

out of town, and is another that belongs on your tickets tonight. (5) FEELIN RED HOT has done the "drop

and pop" too many times to ignore in this spot...especially if speed is looking good tonight. (1) ROBYN

CAMDEN can be handled pretty aggressively from this spot and she wins her fair share of races - possible.

(4) JOSSIE JAMES A has been having a terrific 2021 season and is another dropping down from the Open

- yet another potential player. (6) MACZAFFAIR needed her last off a sick scratch - probably too far out

for more than a small piece tonight, though. (8) MONICA GALLAGHER won off the barn change 2 back

but moves up tonight (and draws Post 8) off a 3rd place finish - seems like too many sharp ones inside of

her. (7) TELL ME A JOKE would be a major surprise here.

RACE 8 - (5) ALII NUI poses a bit of a dilemma as she ships back in showing excellent form, but for

whatever reason, hasn't really clicked in her Yonkers starts this year - we'll go with her on top...but it's a

tepid vote. (1) CLASSY CHAPEL N is hard to like off her last few lines but she's obviously better than

that, and may land on a nice trip here - possible upsetter? (4) TOPVILLE ANGELINA shocked at 49-1 two

back then proved it was no fluke, stepping up in class and winning again at 7-1 in her last - can't ignore her

anymore! (8) MILLWOOD BONNIE N is sharp right now, but continues her string of terrible posts - will

need a lot of racing luck to reach from out here. (2) LYNBAR ROSE N usually needs to be in cheaper to be

a player here but she's definitely upped her game out of town recently - can't say she'd be a shock. (7)

NORMANS MADELINE figured to be a big "go" last week and she was....but couldn't hold off #4 at the

end - stuck far outside now, and may have a hard time overcoming the draw. (6) LAALWAYS AMARTINI

is 0 for 24 here over the past 2 years, usually at the bottom level....but she returns from "The Ridge"

showing wins in 4 of her last 5 (broke in the other), and it's hard to really know what to expect from here.

(3) DIBABA N gets some post relief after struggling in 2 starts since the claim - may need a class drop.

RACE 9 - (1) MY RUEBE STAR N was solid two back off the qualifier but never put in play from a bad

post in her last - drops, draws the pole, and will be heavily favored to finally make her way back to the

winner's circle. (3) SHEIKH YABOOTY N was handled aggressively off the barn change in last but got too

hot on the front end early on and that left her short in the latter stages - she was also off a bad date that

night, and could be that much sharper now - legit player. (4) ANN HILL was an excellent 3rd from Post 8

last week, and gets post relied for tonight - one to include in exotics. (5) TAKE ABIT OF LIFE just wasn't

any good last week and the question is whether she struggled with the off going, or if she's finally starting

to tail a bit - we should get some answers tonight. (6) CASIES BELIEVER would prefer to be in softer but

it's possible that she could grab a small piece here with an easy enough trip. (2) HIGH ROLLING A fell

apart off a pocket trip last week - she'll get a decent trip from this spot, so we'll see if she can rebound, or if

she may just need some class relief. Both (7) ROCKIN THE BOYS A and (8) ANNE BONNEY N could

use both post and class relief - both are in rough spots for tonight.

RACE 10 - (4) DRAGON ROLL has shown that she can hold her own in the Open - got hopelessly

trapped off the class drop 2 back when she decided to sit the two hole, then simply ran into a BEASTLY

winner last week, but still safely holding 2nd after getting outblitzed in a scary 3rd panel - deserves one

more chance. (1) CHECKERED PAST was ok from Post 8 2 back, then had no room to roam in the stretch

in last - may be able to sit a close up trip tonight and work her way onto the ticket somewhere. (3) DANCE

CLUB just never seemed to grab the off going in last - capable of a much better effort, and we may see it

tonight. (6) BETTERB CHEVRON N is very good right now - not sure how she can find her way into this

but at 20-1 ML, she's worth using in exotics. (2) VICIOUS CIRCLE draws well, but may find a few of

these a little tougher than she'd like - minor piece only. (5) EDGE OF ETERNITY is a bit hard to gauge -

seems like she MIGHT fit with these, but also seems to need to be on/near the lead to be effective - mixed

feelings about her chances shipping in from Delaware. (7) BYE BYE MICHELLE double jumps while

landing Post 7...not a great week to use her. (8) SHELLIE DE VIE has been sharp, but with easy trips from

inside posts - may need to wait for a better spot.

RACE 11 - (2) TURBOCHARGEDPETE seemed to struggle grabbing the wet track in last after 4 sharp

tries here - price will be decent, and he's worth using on your tickets. (7) BLUFFINER drops back to the

class he beat TWICE recently, as the odds on favorite - tougher draw this time, but still a must-use on your

tickets. (3) SO LONG HANOVER added Lasix 2 back and just couldn't keep it going late after being used

hard to make the top from Post 8 - came back to win a stretch long battle over #6 in last, and remains a legit

threat tonight. (6) HIGH GEAR NO FEAR shipped down from Canada off a pair of poor efforts but perked

up immediately for his sharp barn, beating #3 for the victory - just missed by a nose to that same rival in

last, and a similar effort puts him right back in the hunt. (4) CAVALIER GEORGE liked things better in

NW4, picking up only smaller pieces since bumping up to this level - more of the same tonight? (1) MY

BOY CHRISTIAN has disappointed in a pair of local tries after showing good form in PA - we'll see if the

move all the way inside helps his cause. (5) YANKEE GIRLFRIEND has disappointed more than she's

delivered lately - prefer others. (8) KASHA V draws Post 8 off a break - will just watch this week.

RACE 12 - (1) THATS INCREDIBLE has been racing well for some time out of town, on all sized tracks -

she won 1 of her 2 starts her last year, and her connections are starting to become Yonkers regulars again -

gets a narrow nod in the finale. (7) BRONZE OVER N was sharp for weeks before the recent claim, and as

good (or better) since - toughed out a very game win in her last, and can be a big threat here if Dube can

work out a decent trip. (6) TURNTHEFROWNAROUND has been solid for weeks in PA vs. tough older

foes, and the 4YO did good work here earlier in the year (9-4-0-4)....not sure how "handy" she is, though,

and wouldn't take a short price from this spot. (2) TELLITSASSYMAE is the "x factor" on here - it appears

she was sold after that mighty impressive qualifier at The Swamp, and she's gone some BIG miles here in

the past - she's also thrown some major duds, and it's hard to say how she'll perform for a new barn - just

make sure to get a fair price if hopping on her team. (4) POPPY DRAYTON N was surprisingly sharp when

2nd last week - a similar effort could help her pick up a piece again tonight. (8) SHECANDANCE N was

really starting to come around recently but she comes into tonight with just one start in 39 days and is stuck

all the way outside - may need to wait for a better scenario. (3) ANGELS PRIDE likes to outrun cheaper -

usually struggles in tougher spots like this. (5) ITS MESMERISE N probably needs to be in a lot easier to

be a serious player.
