Yonkers, NY — Joe Faraldo, president of the North American Amateur Drivers Association, announced today a donation of $2,500 to Doctors Without Borders, a 501(c )(3) entity that provides urgent medical care to hundreds of thousands of people affected by war, starvation, and disease in more than 70 countries around the world each year.
“It is indeed admirable that these doctors travel to attend to the substantial needs of people of all ages who otherwise might not have the benefit of the degree of expertise needed to solve their medical problems. The NAADA membership, comprised of of harness racing’s most ardent supporters and competitors, is again pleased to make such a contribution,” said Faraldo.
In addition, NAADA vice president Alan Schwartz, himself a former active duty marine, singled out the good works of the Disabled American Veterans, (DAV) 501(c)4, as an entity very worthy of equal help.
According to Schwartz, “The DAV has, for nearly over 100 years, since its inception after World War l, been a strong and influential advocate for veterans’ rights and benefits.”
The DAV is committed to fighting for America’s more than 4.7 million disabled veterans, representing veterans on Capitol Hill and getting legislation enacted that protects our nation’s heroes and their families. To date, it is reported that the DAV has provided $28 billion in aid to needy veterans.
NAADA has learned that for each of these contributions a multiple of matching funds between two and five times is available.
NAADA’s harness racing will continue to make such contributions within and outside the industry.
