The Empire Report - Monday, May 2, 2022 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (3) ALL HANDS ON DECK was sent off at 3/5 last week off the class drop and just wasn't

sharp at all (even though 4th) - there were several from the barn that struggled early that week, and a couple

of rebounded nicely - he should be a better price this time around if you want to give him a shot to redeem

himself. (1) MYSWEETBOYMAX tackled older in his last pair and faltered as the odds on choice both

times (although he was a solid 2nd last week) - logical threat from this spot, but that 7/5 ML price suggests

proceeding with caution. (4) DON DOMINGO N was much better 2 & 3 back than his lines would suggest,

so last week's excellent 2nd wasn't that big a surprise - he generally needs to be in a bit easier but if the top

2 fail to deliver, he could be waiting next in line. (6) KILOWATT KID N suddenly showed life 4 starts back

and has held that good form ever since - seems capable of holding his own at this level, but Post 6 may

slow him down just a bit. (2) DANCIN DRAGON has come up light at the end in his last 3 starts - willing

to include underneath, but leaning to others for the top slot right now. (5) MOHAWK WARRIOR is going

well right now, but may be a notch below a few of the main players right now - his barn is clicking right

now, so at least consider him for a small piece. (7) CONBOYVILLE has been tailing, and now draws Post

7 off a sick scratch.

RACE 2 - Short, but very solid field of 75s! (4) DINA BOLT N has been sharp for a long time and has

proven that he can be a player with these....since he generally gets overlooked in the wagering, we'll go

with him as the top choice (for value purposes)....but there are 4 or 5 horses in here with a very valid shot to

take this. (2) ROLLING WITH SAM is just one of MANY horses that have improved almost inconceivably

after joining this barn, but his turnaround has been REALLY exceptional - he took his first two off the barn

change, but did come up 2nd best last week (to #3) - absolutely belongs on your tickets tonight. (3) ELWE

LL looked like he might finally be ready to tail a bit after a VERY long form spree but he did look super

wiring these last week - he's been a threat to win almost every single week that he's been in the box - for

months! (1) VELOCITY KOMODO is a rock solid player in this class, although probably not as handy as a

couple of the others - still a very real threat if the trip goes his way. (6) BELTANE A would seem to be at a

bit of a disadvantage with the outside draw but note that he did sweep the field from last 4 starts back - give

him a look if the price is long enough. (5) HERRICKROOSEVELT N is actually pretty good right now

(just excuse his last), but does seem a bit overmatched against these.

RACE 3 - (2) SPLASH BROTHER was sent off favored against a strong bunch of Borgata performers last

week, but weakened a bit in the latter stages and ended up a close 5th - this is a softer spot, and he really

should be able to handle this assignment. (5) TITO ROCKS last local try was at the Open level, and he's

always been a strong Yonkers performer - seems sharp enough out of town to be a solid player in his

Hilltop return. (4) SAVE ME A DANCE started to tail off a bit before finding some better form at the lower

levels the past 2 starts - not sure if he's ready to handle another class jump right now, but we'll find out

tonight. (6) ROCKAPELO has been in no chance spots for his 3 starts since the barn change - he should

appreciate the class drop here, but the outside draw may leave him waiting for a better spot to strut his best

stuff. (1) SOMEBADDUDE was away for 2 1/2 months and it's pretty hard to gauge his current fitness

level from his Fhd. qualifier and start - he can hold his own with these on his best effort, but he may not be

there right now. (3) MACH N CHEESE outran a couple of cheaper fields not too long ago but has struggled

against better ones for a while - sticking with others. (7) DELIGHTFUL TERROR draws all the way

outside after making a break at the back last week - wait for a better spot.

RACE 4 - (5) REVELRY has elevated his game since joining this barn on 2/14, hitting board in 5 of 6

starts (was parked the mile in the other) - was just nipped at the wire last week, and that winner came back

to win his next start as well....we'll stick with this guy one more time. (1) HEISMAN PLAYER really didn't

fire 2 back but was much sharper last week - looking at a good trip from this spot, and should be a very live

player. (2) REAL PEACE is hard to gauge class-wise from his PPk lines but he joins a barn that tends to

classify new horses properly, so we'll go ahead and include him on some tickets. (3) PRINCE MCARDLE

N generally picks up only smaller pieces in this class, so it was a bit of a surprise to see him pay only 4-1

when he came up a winner 2 starts back - could be a threat again tonight with a live trip. (4) LYONS KING

has been picking up only smaller pieces for a while - have to always respect his connections, but right now

he seems better used underneath, than on top. (6) WATERWAY has been pretty sharp for some time, but it's

not helping his chances by continuing to move him up in class - maybe can rally for a piece? (7) GLEN

GARRY KNIGHT N is a proven player with these with a good trip, but that may not be possible from out

here - wait for a better spot.

RACE 5 - (3) WALKINSHAW N drops from the "Winners Over" where he was a solid 4th last week - he's

held his own with better for months, and this feels like it could be a winning drop. (4) CAN B PERFECT

jogged vs. easier 4 back, drew a couple of outside posts but was right back on his game last week, a sharp

first over 2nd to the easy front end winner - draws well enough to be a major threat once again. (6) PAT

MCGARRY A struggled at big prices out of town for a few starts after joining this barn, so it was a bit of a

surprise to see him sent off at 2/5 for his local debut last week - he rewarded the faithful with an easy front

end score, but things figure to be a lot tougher here - possible, but insist on a (much) better price if staying

on his team. (2) ALEX TYE was a frequent winner at the top claiming levels earlier this year, but his game

has tailed off a bit - capitalized on a perfect trip to beat cheaper last week, but he'll need to up his game

even more for a chance to beat these. (7) MY CARBON COPY N has done some good work since arriving

from Down Under recently, and does fit well at this level - the outside draw may limit him to a smaller

piece tonight, though. (1) FOOLISH PROPHET raced well here in a handful of starts last year, but that was

vs. softer - will have to prove that he can hang with these better ones.

RACE 6 - (1) ROCK CANDY was a BIG "go" 2 back in the Open and almost pulled it off - another solid

3rd last week, and now drops and draws the pole - faces a few pretty sharp rivals here, but we'll still give

him top billing. (2) STANFORD COURT was outstanding when a troubled 3rd in his local debut -

disappointed a bit the next week when 2nd best, but came back strong to win his last couple - Brennan

gives him a big vote of confidence taking him over #3. (3) ALLUNEEDISFAITH N has looked terrific in

NJ since shipping up from Florida, even if facing lesser - he's a proven player at this level when on his

game, and he certainly looks awfully sharp right now - legitimate chance, even if Brennan opts for #2. (5)

MIKES Z TAM is back on his game now, and just missed to #2 two back (sandwiched between a pair of

wins) - worth including in exotics...and maybe even on top? (6) SHADOW CAT was a game winner one

level down last week, but tends to struggle a bit at this higher level - move outside doesn't help either. (7)

ST LADS BEAT IT was an excellent 2nd last week, but did benefit from following the winner - may not be

as fortunate this time around. (4) LOUS SWEETREVENGE seems to be in a rut right now - waiting for

better signs before hopping back on his team. (8) PRETTY HANDSOME struggled to get close in his last

couple of starts, and tonight's draw may leave him in that same boat once more.

RACE 7 - Tough race! (7) IM BENICIO A can be pretty in and out but when he's on his game, he can do

some serious damage - moves to a barn that's been known to help their new acquisitions find their best in a

hurry, so this guy is definitely worth using....even from Post 7. (6) KINNDER JACKSON is 5 for 9 this

year, and that includes a recent 4 race win streak - was used hard early a couple of times last week and was

still a close 3rd...can be a big threat tonight if Bartlett finds him a manageable trip. (1) BALLERAT BOOM

ERANG put in a big bid last week, almost going by the favorite to 3/4s - kept on battling even after he

couldn't clear, and was only a nose back on the wire - deserves plenty of respect from the pole tonight. (2)

ROCKIN JUKEBOX has held his form pretty well since the claim, even after moving up in class - moves

back inside, and is a good value horse to include in exotics. (4) WESTERN HILL has held his own vs. the

50s but his 2 most recent wins came one level down - his chances would go up if he could cut this mile, but

that seems like an iffy proposition, at best. (5) ITSMYCHECK GB beat this class 2 back but was greatly

aided by a perfect trip - not sure he can beat these without the benefit of another golden journey. (3) PASS

A GRILLEBEACH outran a couple of cheaper fields recently but may need to be back in a similar spot

before we see his best again. (8) B LIKE CRUISER is 2 for 2 since the barn change but that was vs. much

softer- big class jump and Post 8 figure to slow him down a bit upon arrival from Pocono.

RACE 8 - (3) RED RIGHT HAND was outstanding in his last local start, effortlessly jogging for his 5th

win of the year - shipped across the river to NJ last week, and dominated those as well in a snappy 1:48.1

mile - draws well here, and Zeron takes him over #5....we'll trust his judgment. (5) AMERICAN DEALER

N was a bit of a disappointment throughout the Borgata Series, though he did win one leg - added Lasix last

week, and looked much sharper finishing his mile...we'll see if he can continue to build off that sharper

effort. (7) SPEED MAN N would seem to be in a brutal spot, but we've seen him overcome bad posts in the

past, both on and off the pace - should be a good price (despite the excellent season he's been having), and

he's worth including in exotics. (8) PRICELESS BEACH has been outstanding in all 3 starts since arriving

from Canada, elevating his game dramatically for his new conditioner - he's stuck all the way outside vs. a

very tough field....and it'll be interesting to see just how well he can handle it (if Gingras is able to put him

in play). (2) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N was claimed on 4/4 by a barn that routinely improves any horse

they pick up by many lengths....so it was really no great shock that he won in the same class the next week,

then stepped up and beat the Open in his last - can't say he won't do it again! (4) BUDDY HILL was really

outstanding in that 8 hole win in his last, but that was 3 weeks ago - will need to be 100% to have any

chance for a good piece against this much tougher bunch. (1) GENIUS MAN is in career form right now,

but this is a major class test - not sure how he'll fare, even starting from the pole. (6) BRONX SEELSTER

had been on a very nice roll before failing to get involved from a similar spot last week - may have some

trouble finding his way into the hunt tonight, as well.

RACE 9 - (2) FINE DIAMOND takes a double jump in class tonight but that last win was so terrific, he

just may be up for it - he's always been a streaky performer, so maybe he has another big one in him. (3)

CAPTAIN BARBOSSA is the obvious favorite dropping out of Borgata competition to face this far more

modest group - he's the one to knock off for sure, but he's just 1 for 8 at Yonkers, and will be a pretty short

price. (6) ROCKATHON was stuck in the back vs. a solid field last week - this may be a good spot to leave

for position, and that would put him in play for a decent chunk of this. (5) GLACIS has been finishing

alertly in all of his recent stars - good one for 3rd/4th. (4) MICKY GEE N felt like he was finally starting to

come around, but was a little sluggish last time off a sick scratch - not really sure what to expect from him

tonight. (8) KEYSTONE NOLAN was very sharp in his first 2 starts off the claim - broke in his next, then

finished well last week from too far back - another 8 hole may leave him waiting for a better spot for at

least another week. (1) SOUTHPORT BEACH has done good work since being claimed recently for $15K,

but may find these a little too tough - can never count out these connections, though. (7) SHANWAY N is

hard to gauge off his Fhd, qualifier and start - may look better next week, with a class drop and (hopefully)

better post.
