The Empire Report - Thursday, July 1, 2021 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (2) JIVE DANCING A beat this class back on 5/13, and has major excuses in her last two starts

- gets major class relief tonight, draws inside in a short field, and will give her the edge in what may shake

out as a two horse affair. (2) MACZAFFAIR N raced super off the layoff on 6/10, was a little disappointing

in her next, then "ok" for 3rd in her last - if she brings her "A Game" tonight, she'll be a serious threat to the

top one....but consistency isn't her strong point, and she's listed as the 7/5 ML favorite. (6) NORMANS

MADELINE had that incredible 5 race run from early April through early May before tailing at the higher

levels - tonight's drop (and short field) can help, but not ready to endorse her over the top two. (1) SHEIKH

YABOOTY has raced ok since arriving here 3 starts back, but has yet to beat much cheaper than these -

would need to really up her game to battle the top two. (5) ANNE BONNEY N needs to be in with easier to

make her speed really work.

RACE 2 - Short, but sharp field! (2) TURBOCHARGEDPETE was an excellent 2nd in his YR debut at

34-1, then an excellent 2nd at 21-1 in his next - the price will definitely be much shorter this time...but

maybe this is the week he finally gets over the hump...worth a shot. (1) BLUFFINER used a perfectly timed

move to beat these last week, and has now won his last 3 local starts in impressive fashion - remains the

one to beat, but he'll also be the prohibitive favorite. (4) CAVALIER GEORGE has won 2 straight for a hot

barn but will be stepping up to face a tougher bunch tonight - wouldn't be a shock, but make sure to get a

good price if using on top. (5) YANKEE GIRLFRIEND has two 2nds and a 3rd here since shipping up

from PPk - seems like she can handle any trip, and she definitely has a shot to take home a decent piece. (6)

SWISS HOUSE ONFIRE has looked since recently adding Lasix, grabbing a win and two 3rds in his last 3

starts - was no match for #1's brush last week, though. and now gets stuck outside 5 solid rivals - could be a

tough spot. (3) DESWANSLITTLELORIE weakened on the lead at PcD 2 back then tired here from the

pocket in her last - may be in a little tougher than she can handle with these.

RACE 3 - (3) MOTU MOONBEAM N was on a long form spree that finally fizzled out at the beginning of

May - her last 2 were definitely steps back in the right direction, though, and this feels like a field she can

probably take wire to wire. (1) SUDDEN CHANGE N shows some pretty inconsistent form but she did win

at this level back on 4/29, and has won many times in previous years as well (for other trainers) - may get a

wake up call from this spot. (2) FEAR MY SHADOW was a very game winner 2 back, but was used hard

in last, and unable to rally at all after a shuffle - an easier trip tonight puts her right back in the hunt. (4)

SWEET MOVES had weak lines shipping in last week but did have good life finishing for 3rd - would

definitely use her underneath off that effort. (7) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE was handled aggressively

dropping to this level last week, eventually made it to the top but was pretty exhausted once they hit the

stretch - if nothing else, at least that effort showed a spark of life...if she's a juicy price tonight, she wouldn't

be a terrible stab. (5) THREEDEE DELIGHT A still hasn't clicked since moving to this top barn and enters

tonight's race off a break, and scratch - sticking with others, for now. (8) KEENE OLIVIA was up the track

from similar spots the past 2 weeks - wait for a better draw to consider. (6) NO STONE UNTURNED just

seems too cheap for these, based on her out of town lines.

RACE 4 - (5) SEVENSHADESOFGREY was right there 2nd behind Ambassador Hanover in his only

Yonkers start last year, and that one will be one of the favorites in the Yonkers Trot on Friday - he finished

2nd to Ahundreddollarbill 3 starts back, and that one also figures to be a major player in the Yonkers Trot -

assuming he stays trotting, he really should have no problem against this bunch. (6) CHARMING BANK

was a 6-1 overlay winner in his local debut last week - gets stuck outside tonight, but still has a decent

chance to land somewhere in the exotics. (1) PIVOTAL raced very well despite a bad trip 2 back, but just

wasn't any good out of the pocket last week - he's still a work in progress, but can land a big chunk IF he

shows up in the right mood. (2) CHROME PACKAGE grabbed a 3rd in his YR debut then was just too far

back to threaten in last - the move inside may help him pick up a small share. (8) DESTINY BLUE CHIP

has been struggling, but did take a step in the right direction last week -- just wish she had drawn a little

better. (7) TITANS HOPE seems to have some ability, but he broke in his first start here this year, then

weakened from the pocket in last - Post 7 won't make things any easier. (3) BIG CHARLIE MORAN

grabbed a win last week, but note that virtually the entire field self destructed - his prior form suggests that

he may struggle in this much more competitive field. (4) TBTWELVE tired badly in her return qualifier -

will just watch, for now.

RACE 5 - Tough race: (6) LETS ROLL has been facing some tough competition at a variety of racetracks

lately and frequently holding his own - he figures to be a decent price here, his barn has been live, and he

may be able to get it done with some trip luck. (4) MY DELIGHT had no chance in his first try off the

claim but really wasn't bad - gets post relief, and may be geared up for a more aggressive try tonight (and

congrats to George Brennan, who picked up his 11,000th career victory last night)!. (1) WALKINSHAW is

a logical threat from this spot but his overall form hasn't been all that inspiring lately, and he's sure to be

overbet - could be a bit vulnerable. (2) BETTING EXCHANGE wasn't up for the aggressive steer last time

- drops tonight, and an easier trip may lead to a decent piece (3) WESTERN HILL has been beyond camera

shy (1 for 44 last 2 years), but he has some solid recent efforts, and may be able to grab a share of this. (7)

GLOBALDOMINATION N was able to dominate a much cheaper field last week, but this is a much

tougher spot - not impossible, but definitely prefer others. (5) TULLOW N is 0 for 13 at YR over the last 3

years, and not all that sharp out of town right now - will just watch for tonight. (8) OUR MAJORDAN N

failed as the favorite in his last 2, and now is forced to move up while drawing Post 8 - tough combination.

RACE 6 - (5) BYE BYE MICHELLE gets both post and class relief, and is overdue for a good trip - by the

end of the year she always seems to get her wins, and this may be a spot where she can pick one up. (4)

MALNIFICENT was very well meant last week but was hung out to dry by the standout winner - she still

managed to stay alive all the way to the final turn, and a similar effort tonight (with a better trip) would

make her a major threat. (3) SCANDALICIOUS loves to sit back and charge home these days, but she can

handle an aggressive try in a spot like this - feels like a legit player with any decent trip. (6) SANDYS

BEACH certainly hasn't been sharp in some time, but she drops a bit and may be able to land in a live outer

flow - chance from improvement tonight. (2) IRON MISTRESS did good work after a private purchase this

spring but started to unravel once she moved up to the higher classes - she gets a drop now, but we'll see if

she can perk back up (she may need even cheaper right now). (1) CHECKERED PAST raced well vs.

cheaper in her last pair, but it's hard to say if she can continue that fine form against these (much) better

opponents - the rail draw helps, but she's definitely iffy in here. (7) MILLWOOD BONNIE N has been

racing well for a while, does drop a bit, but figures to be coming from well out of it - not sure she can reach

(8) TOPVILLE ANGELINA seems unlikely to be able to get herself in play from out here.

RACE 7 - (8) RACINE BELL was ultra impressive going 4 for 4 here this spring and now returns from NJ

off a pair of Open victories, the last one matching the World Record for 4YO mares - the one to beat, even

though assigned Post 8. (6) DRAGON ROLL had no trouble making the transition from "NWPM" races to

facing top older mares - she's really blossomed into an excellent mare, and is just as comfortable racing

either on or off the pace - maybe she can add some value to the exotics? (4) LOVELY DONNA paced a 3rd

quarter in :26.4 two back and STILL got outpaced by FEELIN RED HOT to 3/4s - can be forgiven for

weakening a bit after that and did come back to chase the standout Siesta Beach for 2nd last week - have a

feeling she'll race well here tonight. (1) JOSSIE JAMES A has the speed to end up with a pretty good trip

from this spot - she's been overachieving for so long it might be time to just recognize that she IS a pretty

nice mare...and can pick up pieces even at these top levels. (3) FEELIN RED HOT took off the gate last

week and that's just not her things - was RAZOR sharp in that win 2 back, and her overall recent form has

been strong as well - just not sure what trip is in store for her tonight. (5) SEASWIFT JOY N grabbed a 2nd

and a win to start off the Matchmaker Series but was scratched from the 3rd leg, and has been away ever

since - guessing she'll probably be handled conservatively tonight. (2) IMPRINCESGEMMAA broke in

her first try for a new barn but bounced back with wins in her last pair - steps up now, and she's been

tripped up in this class in the past. (7) SPORTS FLIX wasn't as good in her 2nd local try as she was in her

first, and now gets stuck with Post 7 - tough spot.

RACE 8 - (1) ANGELS PRIDE is feelin' good right now and the class hike really shouldn't matter to her -

she'll be looking to air it out once more...and there's a good chance this field won't catch her either. (3)

LATE NIGHT DATE A has been doing good work out of town vs. better than these - if anybody has a shot

to knock off the top choice, it's probably her (and she qualified we;; here back on 5/7, so she shouldn't have

any trouble getting over the track). (4) A CRAFTY LADY went off form for a while but rebounded in wins

in her last pair in PA - definitely a good candidate to grab a piece here. (2) SHELLIE DE VIE picked up a

3rd chasing the top choice last week - she'll be sitting close once again, so there's a chance she could land

somewhere in the exotics once more. (5) ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX has been pretty good lately - she

prefers cheaper, but an easy trip would give her a chance for 3rd/4th. (6) MILADY DENVER A just seems

to throw more of her good effort out of town, rather than here at Yonkers - outside draw doesn't help, either

(7) CHASE YOU rallied for 3rd from a similar spot 2 back, but was unable to get close in her last - prefer

others. (8) ANNABETH doesn't figure to be able to get into the hunt from out here.

RACE 9 - (3) DEMETER N made the top off the drop last week, left a rival parked out and still just

crushed the competition - moves up one level tonight but when she's on her game, she can beat much better

than these - looking for her to make it 2 straight, boosted by last week's confidence builder. (4) DANCE

CLUB is having an excellent year for these connections, sporting a 19-6-4-0 record (while 8-3-2-0 here at

YR) - she can race from on or off the pace, and looms the main danger in her Hilltop return. (5) STELLEN

BOSCH enjoyed a nice cover trip last week and turned that into a close 3rd - she seems to race better at

other tracks, but she still has to be seen as a legit threat against these. (6) CLASSY CHAPEL N was taken

off her game last week when forced to abort a quarter move attempt - her overall current form is otherwise

excellent, and she can make some noise here if she maintains that good form for a new barn. (1) BETCHA

BABY is on the cheaper side, but racing well at the moment - inside draw gives her a chance at a small

piece. (2) BALFAST N usually finishes well, but is another that seems a bit overmatched vs. a few of these.

Both (7) LADYROCKNROLLA N and (8) CABOWABOCUTTIE seem unlikely to ever get involved from

out here....but both are also looking at class drops next week.

RACE 10 - (6) SIESTA BEACH dropped to this level last week and was handled aggressively, scoring the

sharp win as the 2/5 favorite - talented mare gets a free ride tonight and while she meets several very sharp

rivals, her abundance of class should allow her to pick up another win...even if she has to work a bit harder

this time. (4) YS TALLIA has really been thriving since joining forces with her talented young conditioner

this year - one of several very sharp players in here that are hard to separate. (2) TAKE ABIT OF LIFE is

one of a few in here that normally race at lower levels, but have used recent form sprees to end up in this

NW30000 class - has gone several excellent miles since shipping north from Pompano - we'll see if she has

another in her. (1) ROCKNROLL ANNIE was losing week after week in NW7500 but 2 wins and a 2nd

have boosted her up to this much higher class - the rail may help her keep her good form going for at least

another week. (7) NORTH STAR IDEAL has been in raging form for a barn that has been enjoying an

excellent 2021 (so far) - only knock is the draw, but a live trip would give her a chance at a piece, at a nice

price. (3) ANN HILL has wins at 16-1 and 7-1 in recent weeks, but at lower levels - she moves to a top

barn via last week's claim, gets Dube to opt a couple of other sharp ones, and we'll see if she can be a

player with this tougher bunch as well. (5) ROCK N PHILLY elevated her game substantially after coming

in from Delaware but she's unproven against this type - willing to excuse her last (no chance), but just not

sure if she can hang with this very sharp crew.

RACE 11 - (3) SEVENTIER was a solid 3rd in his first start back at 3 behind the talented SEVENSHADE

SOFGREY...then rattled off three straight wins, each one faster than the last - he goes back to Trond in the

bike tonight (had Dave Miller and Dunn in the last 2 wins), but still looms the one to beat in his current

form. (7) DIFFIDENT is a 3YO filly facing older males (from an outside post) but the talent is undeniably

there - expect a good effort from her tonight. (5) I HAVE A DREAM almost pulled it off from Post 8 at a

grillion to one 4 starts back - finished with sneaky trot from an impossible spot in last, and may add some

value to the gimmicks. (2) REEL EM IN raced much better than expected in his YR debut, and excellent

2nd to the sharp (repeat) winner - earned plenty of respect with that mile, and belongs in exotics again

tonight. (1) MOMMS MY DAD was never close in his last 2 (7 and 8 holes), but did win from the rail in

the start before that -could easily pick up a good piece tonight with the move back inside. (4) CHERRY

RED has gone some ok miles lately - maybe can save ground and pick up a minor share? (6) BRILLIANT

BOB seemed cheap shipping in from Nfd. and his first try here was an even 4th - jury still out on this guy.

(8) BREEZING PRAYER used a quick start to grab a good trip, and then good piece in last - don't think he

can be as fortunate this time, though.

RACE 12 - (3) BRONZE OVER N has been doing excellent work for quite a while now, and comes into

this off a narrow loss to the talented Stowaway Hanover - her main rival has missed three weeks, and that

might give this mare the edge she needs to get back to the winner's circle (4) SLICK ARTIST A has really

thrived since the barn change, and that last mile was flat out excellent - the only knock is that she hasn't

raced in 3 weeks, and that MAY leave her just a bit vulnerable this week. (1) TELL ME A JOKE was off

form for a long time but has managed to put together a 3 race win streak, showing some toughness along

the way - might be good enough right now to make some noise here too. (2) PONDER THE ODDS drops

off an even 4th last week - logical spot to look for some improvement from her. (5) SEZANA N went a big

effort last time, just missing to #1 - steps up and draws outside 4 main rivals, however, and that may limit

her a bit this time around. Both (6) HIGH ROLLING A and (7) POPPY DRAYTON N have found some

better form at lower levels, but the two mares (trained by father and son!) are hit with both class jumps and

poor posts for tonight...and that may cause both of them to struggle a bit this week. (8) TALL POPPY N

seems to do her best near the lead, and that doesn't seem possible from this spot.
