The Empire Report - Friday, October 7, 2022 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (1) FARMERS TAN came first over and won going away at this level last week - draws the pole

tonight, and has to be seen as the clear choice to repeat....won't be much of a price, though. (4) KIMANI N

was a winner at this level 4 back, and drops back down tonight from the 20s - he doesn't win a lot of races

here at YR, but he does have a chance to be a legitimate player tonight. (7) CAVIART STETSON has 3

wins from his last 4 starts and the lone loss was right here at Yonkers, where he was hard used and had the

lead into the stretch before tiring- that 8-1 ML price makes him worth at least considering (6) SNAP CALL

has thrown mostly blanks in his local starts but he does have a recent 2nd and 3rd, and gets a big switch to

Bartlett tonight - good bomb for the bottom of exotics? (5) OHIO VINTAGE was a "meh" winner for $20K

off the claim 2 back - was scr. sick from his next and dropped BELOW the claim price last week, giving

way to the top choice in 15s, and fortunate just to hold on to a tiring 2nd - could be a bit vulnerable here.

(2) UNICO LEGEND N seems to only make a handful of starts each year - he was freshened up after only

5 starts this year, and drops down to 15s off the qualifier - it's really a complete guess as to what we'll see

from him tonight! (3) COACH CAL used an easy trip to take home a 3rd last week - always a chance for

another piece if the trip comes up easy enough. (8) BIG BAD BILL is 1 for 29 this year, goes to a new barn

and draws Post 8 off a sick scratch - probably a good week just to observe.

RACE 2 - Tough race! (6) TOWNLINE ALL GOOD picked up smaller pieces from tough spots in his last

couple - this is another tough spot for sure, but the field is full of "question marks", and perhaps he can

make one late rush to light up the tote board. (1) GHOST DANCE was razor sharp for some time - threw a

lesser effort 2 back but did rebound with a 2nd last week - would have liked him a lot more had his barn not

cooled off so much in the last few weeks. (8) MARINER SEELSTER lands in a seemingly unlikely spot

but the ageless veteran has been turning in solid miles for most of the last 2 years, and he'll be a big price

from this spot - worth at least a look? (2) ALOTBETTOR N was sharp in his last pair (win and a 2nd) and

draws well tonight - he's also off a sick scratch, making his performance tonight a bit uncertain. (3) KEYST

ONE DASH was beyond sharp for weeks but threw his first dud in a long time last week - very tough to

predict if he rebounds from that effort, or if it suggests his long form spree has ended - just another question

mark! (5) TASK BAR HANOVER didn't win in his debut for our leading barn but he was 2nd to a good

NW4 rival, then came back to jog in his 2nd start - he's missed 3+ weeks and being asked to make the jump

from NW4 to taking on tough, older claimers....would probably be an easy toss for any OTHER barn, but

we've learned that THIS crew can never be counted out. (7) ASTON HILL DAVE was on a major roll

before coming up empty last start (moving up to 40s) - Post 7 will make it tough to rebound. (4) MARCO

BEACH is another that was hitting on all cylinders recently....but seemed to tail off in his last pair.

RACE 3 - (8) MAJOR CROCKER A returned from Tioga with some less than stellar looking lines but he

perked right up back at Yonkers and was a sharp winner at the $20K level - he was claimed that night by a

barn that has repeatedly improved horses by many lengths, and we'll go with him on top tonight, despite

moving up in class and drawing the 8 hole. (1) AWESOMENESS maintained his form after the claim last

week, finishing 2nd despite the class bump - his current barn has more than doubled its yearly win total

over the past 2 weeks alone, and has to now be considered with anything they drop in the box! (6) BRACK

LEY BEACH was used hard last week but was still able to deliver an impressive victory at this level -

earned a lot of respect with that mile, and a similar effort puts him right back in the mix for tonight. (4)

SHOREVIEW is a bit unreliable from start to start, but can usually do some damage when he lands on an

easy trip - willing to include in exotics. (5) RISKY MILLION seemed to be struggling even before getting

bothered last week, but we'll still give him a pass - chances might go up if he was able to get away to a

better start one of these weeks. (7) POSH ONTHE BEACH A is a proven threat at this $25K level, but he

gets no luck with the draw tonight - just not sure he can find a way into the race from out here. (3) SWEET

N FAST N is another one of the "in and outers" in here - would want a good price even to include

underneath. (2) TIDAL SHARK has been struggling mightily for a while.

RACE 4 - (2) SECRET BRO came up 2nd best (to #1) after cutting the mile last week but might be a little

better with something to shoot at - he lands in a pretty competitive field tonight, will be a better price, and

may be worth another shot. (4) HOOLIE N HECTOR is really blossoming into his 4YO season, and comes

into tonight off a 3rd behind the streaking H L REVADON, and good 2nd behind the talented TAKE ALL

COMERS - has to be seen as a very legitimate player here. (1) GREY has been a new horse since the barn

change, finishing a nice 3rd two back, then delivering the sharp win last week (over #2) - pretty hard to

leave her off your tickets right now. (5) HIGHLAND MOWGLI was 2nd at Chester for his new barn 3

back, won his next then shipped over here and took another - faces a bit tougher and draws outside his main

rivals, but still deserves plenty of respect. (6) JOHAN PALEMA is now 6-4-1-1 here at Yonkers and that

includes last years win in the Yonkers Trot - his 4YO season has been "just ok", however, and drawing

outside a few main rivals tonight might leave him with a smaller local piece than he's used to. (3) NEW LE

GACY wouldn't even be getting any real consideration in his first local start off those out of town lines -

but he's debuting tonight for a barn that could probably win with a zebra, and is hard to ever dismiss under

any circumstances - leaning towards others, but fully recognize that he could be just the latest in a long line

of "impossible" winners for this trainer/driver combination. (7) ALTUS HANOVER was unable to reach

from a similar spot last week - prefer to wait for a better scenario. (8) BARRY BLACK was a winner last

week but double jumps in class while drawing Post 8 - tough to overcome.

RACE 5 - (7) DINA BOLT N hasn't won in some time but he's had endless close up finishes behind much

better than these - he gets Bartlett back in the bike for the first time in a long time and the last time the two

paired up, it resulted in a 2nd place finish behind the classy CHASE H HANOVER - not a fan of that 8/5

ML listing, but we'll still give him top billing. (3) AINT HE SPECIAL went south for a few starts but that

effort 2 back was better than it looks, and that last mile was every bit as good as it looks on paper - expect a

big effort tonight. (4) SOUTHWIND MOROCCAN had no prayer last week and was parked the mile from

Post 8 the start before - he had a pair of 3rds right before that and as noted, his barn has come to life in a

big (unexpected) way recently - legitimate player. (1) BUNGALOW BILL N has looked a little better

recently - ok to include underneath but before using him on top, note that he's 27-0-3-0 here over the last 3

seasons! (6) MARLBANK ROAD has just 1 win and one 2nd from 16 local starts this year but he still fits

well with these - another to consider using in exotics. (8) LEVINE just requalified once more as the 5YO

has just 7 starts this year and has struggled to get his season going - have to believe we'll see a conservative

steer from all the way out here. (5) GLENGARRY KNIGHT N hasn't benefited yet from dropping to the

bottom level - prefer others. (2) PINEBUSH LIFESAVER was better than his recent local lines suggested

so that last (easy) win at Tioga was no great shock - he would definitely be a surprise in HERE, however.

RACE 6 - (4) LEAN HANOVER has raced "well" or "very well" for quite a while now, and the good draw

gives Marohn lots of options - gets the narrow edge for tonight. (6) WARRIOR ONE had an extended form

spree before taking some time off - hasn't been quite at that same level since returning, but this is a spot

well within his comfort zone - the main danger. (1) BARN HALL came up 2nd best upon arrival at YR 2

back, then was just too far out of it to threaten last week - the move all the way inside puts him back in play

for a big chunk tonight. (5) ON HIGHER GROUND has been 1st or 2nd in 9 of 23 local starts this year but

often invisible the other weeks - comes into tonight off a pair of "meh" 4ths, and has been away for 3

weeks- could be looking at a minor share only this time. (2) VINNY E VIE took a month off after a sick

scratch the drew Post 8 in his first start back (in PA) - draws inside returning to YR and a better effort may

be forthcoming. (7) SMALLTOWNTHROWDOWN took off the gate last week and was nowhere to be

found - may happen again tonight, or Boyd might leave and run into some difficulty - tough spot, either

way. (3) PLUMB beat the 50s off the claim 3 back but struggled in his last pair - may suffer the same fate

tonight. (8) NEW HEAVEN has had an up and down season - Post 8 may leave him waiting for next week.

RACE 7 - (7) MINGO JOEL shipped in from Tioga 2 back, got Holland on board and ALMOST pulled

off the wire to wire 25-1 upset from Post 8 - returns from Tioga again, gets Holland back up and lands Post

7 (at 20-1 ML) - worth another shot! (4) CASHNCAM was a good 2nd last week from a tough spot - he has

3 wins here this year, and could easily be a player tonight. (2) CARRACCI HANOVER found a winning

spot at Chester and the classy 11YO may have got some confidence back - legitimate threat here, but very

likely to be overbet. (3) P H KENNY has been doing some good work in PA and does have a good history

here - include in exotics. (6) BLUEBERRY HEAVEN is probably drawn too far out for a chance to win,

but he's always a possibility to rally late for a minor share. (1) TERRITORY just hasn't been any good

lately - will probably flash speed again, but it's the stamina that's been a problem. (5) OUR THIRD ROCK

has picked up very minor pieces only, and that figures to be all he'll be shooting for tonight. (8) PACING

MAJOR N was forced to qualify after a "distanced' line, and the qualifier was pretty ugly too - now Post 8.

RACE 8 - (6) STORMY KROMER had won 4 straight starts at Yonkers so when he was sent off at 17-1

last week, clearly the public assumed he wasn't going to be all that serious from Post 7 -- it would seem the

public got that one right (he trailed all the way then finished 6th) but apparently the race office wasn't

buying it, as he was assigned the outside post once again for this week - let's hope he gets put in play

tonight. (2) MISSISSIPPI STORM just missed to the top pick 4 starts back, was 3rd the following week

then was in tough spots in his last pair - feels like a spot tonight where he can do some damage. (1) HL

REVADON is 4 for 4 since the recent purchase and has earned his way back up to the top level - the guess

here is that he can hold his own with these, too. (4) HERCULISA was a big earner at 3 (over $400K) and

has done good work in her 4YO campaign as well - she'll probably be overbet tonight in her YR debut, and

that's the main reason we'll be sticking with others. (3) HEY LIVVY hasn't been on her best game and her

last was actually disappointing - she does drop right back in the box, however, so we'll at least consider the

possibility that she could bounce back tonight. (5) HAT TRICK MARLEAU is probably a bit overmatched

with these right now.

RACE 9 - (2) LOVE THE BLUES N was in the midst of a decent back side move last week (as the odds

on choice) when he hooked wheels heading to 3/4s and lost all momentum (it doesn't show on his chart) -

his price will be much better now, and he's one that's worth sticking with. (3) JOJOS PLACE was non

competitive for weeks but has been 2nd and 3rd in his last 2....after joining the sharpest barn in the game

right now - feels like he's sitting on a win, but he's going to be way overbet tonight. (1) SUNSETBOOZEC

RUISE gets major post relief and that should allow him to be part of the action - he's also 0 for 15 here over

the last 3 years, so we'll be using him underneath only. (6) WON LAST FEELING benefited by being

inside to the final turn last week but he still raced well to be 3rd - good bomb for the bottom of exotics

again tonight. (4) DAVIDS COMING HOME continues to disappoint more often than not, but he still

remains a threat to grind his way to a small piece. (5) LETTUCERIPRITAA was no factor at all off the

claim last week but he also drew too poorly to get into contention - better draw tonight, so maybe he can

squeeze out a piece? (7) SECRECY lands his first bad post in some time - wait for a better spot before

considering. (8) SPORTS BETTOR doesn't figure to get anywhere near the action tonight.
