The Empire Report - Tuesday, October 11, 2022 - Race Analysis
RACE 1 - (5) SOHO CHELSEAA didn't click at all in his first 3 starts off the claim but came to life last
week, delivering a sharp first over score - steps up a notch but meets a very modest field, and may be able
to make it 2 in a row. (2) SANTAFES COACH is dangerous in this kind of spot, but is also somewhat
camera shy - willing to use on top only if the price is fair. (4) KAUAI KING followed the top choice last
week and came up 2nd best - he's been pretty consistent lately, but his 0 for 23 Yonkers record makes him
hard to consider on top at that 2-1 ML price! (7) PERFECTLY CLOSE was even money dropping to this
level 2 back and really disappointed - was no good again last week and just seems way off form....but he'd
be pretty dangerous here (even from Post 7) if he ever gets a wake up call. (1) VIRGIN STORM is 0 for 16
here this year and while he does pick up pieces, it usually looks like he's just going through the motions -
using underneath only. (3) ROCKINMYSHOE raced much better in his 2nd local start, but did get a bit
rough on the final turn - moves up in class, and will need to improve even more to be a real threat. (6)
NOCH TEN was a winner here 5 back arriving from Canada...and has beaten just ONE horse (total) in his 4
starts since then
RACE 2 - (4) RB arrives from Michigan sporting a career 21-12-5-4 record (racing primarily on their fair
circuit) - he lands in very capable local hands, and we'll hop on board for his YR debut. (2) ROCKYTOP
OH OH was sent off favored in his local debut last week but just got way too hot (on a track not all that
speed favoring) and weakened from the final turn - he's capable better, and can be a major threat IF he can
relax a bit more tonight. (6) WHISKEY BREAK didn't function in his local debut but was an ok 4th the
next week, then a solid 2nd last week (beating out #2 for 2nd) - can contend for another good piece tonight.
(1) AUSSIE HANOVER is 1 for 19 and needs to do a better job finishing his miles - probably looking at
only another smaller piece tonight. (5) VARNEY used a pocket trip to pick up a 2nd two back, but then was
no good at all last week - he's just 1 for 21 lifetime (0 for 8 at YR) and another that seems destined for only
a minor piece. (3) DOUBLE DOUBLE hails from a top barn, but is off a sick scratch after showing nothing
in his first 2 local tries
RACE 3 - (2) PRETTY HANDSOME came up a little short at the end last week but he was also used a bit
early on, and that may have played a role - he can be a little inconsistent at times, but he also throws some
pretty big efforts when in the right mood...looking for one of those tonight. (1) PYRO wasn't at his best 2
back but was still a close 3rd - ran into a terrible trip last week (he gets a total pass) and could easily come
back with a big one tonight - has to be respected from this spot. (3) EHRMANTROUT landed on pocket
trips the last 2 weeks and took home a pair of 2nds - he continues to climb the class ladder but another easy
trip tonight could see him take home another good piece. (7) VELOCITY KOMODO really finished crisply
2 back so it was no surprise to see him go right to the top and win last week - moves up and lands Post 7
here, and that figures to limit him to a smaller share...regardless of how sharp he is right now. (4) GENIUS
MAN couldn't have landed on a better trip last week if he tried to, and delivered the 21-1 upset - he still fits
the same class, but it's unlikely he'll land on that same golden journey - looking at a smaller slice this time.
(5) MULLINAX does his best work with a bit easier - leaning to others. (6) MIKES Z TAM can probably
be a threat at this level, but probably needs a much better spot to do so
RACE 4 - (4) ITS MESMERISE N finished up nicely last week from a no chance spot and now will be
making her first start for our leading trainer, after being claimed last week...we'll go with her on top in an
otherwise very competitive affair. (2) CHUPPAH ON earned herself a terrific trip from Post 8 dropping to
this level last week, but didn't have the 2nd move she needed at the end - it would be hard to leave her off
your tickets from this spot, but she also figures to be overbet, as well. (3) SHEIKH YABOOTY N has been
solid every week when she's been on or near the lead, and she should be able to work out an up close trip
tonight - logical player. (5) ENGLISH ROSE N really wasn't bad from difficult spots the last 2 weeks -
she's listed at 20-1 ML, and not a bad one for the longshot fans to consider. (1) CRUSH ME was a very
nice 2nd at this level arriving from PA - she has excuses in her last 2 (8 hole, then broke last week), and it
really wouldn't be a surprise to see her come up with a contending effort tonight. (6) LAURIE LEE was
way overbet 2 back but still able to pull off the nose victory - was even MORE overbet last week, but could
only manage a 3rd...tough draw tonight, and prefer others for the top slots. (7) ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX
has been really good in her last few starts and was able to get her picture taken last week - hard to see her
reaching from this spot, though. (8) CAVIART CHERIE just seems to have gone way off form
RACE 5 - (7) GAMBLINGTERROR may be worth a stab here - has been getting a little better as he's been
dropping through the classes and while he didn't win hitting this bottom level last week, he was still a close
2nd behind a horse that's better than these - if Marohn is willing to send him out of there tonight, he'll have
a chance at the upset. (1) FIZZING N was sent off favored dropping to this level last week, cut the mile but
was eventually worn down by the sharp winner - every chance to make amends tonight. (5) PERSIMMON
A was handled conservatively upon arrival from Fhd. last week and did finish with some life between
horses - chance to be part of this with a live journey. (3) HURRIKANEKINGJAMES is 0 for 26 here over
the last 3 years but does move to a new barn for tonight - we'll see if the change of scenery helps his cause.
(4) ROCKIN JUKEBOX is listed at 8/5 ML but hasn't hit board in his last 7 starts...and that includes last
week, where he tired off a pocket trip - won't say he CAN'T win, but he certainly won't be offering any
value. (2) MY MIND IS MADEUP has gone sour lately, and would need a quick form reversal to be a
serious threat tonight. (6) CAPTAIN MULZAC ships down from Monti and would have gotten a bigger
look had he drawn a bit better
RACE 6 - (3) DP REALORDEAL was a good looking winner on 9/13 in his local debut - was terrific the
next 2 starts as well, but had the misfortune of running into BB LUCKY BOY, and had to settle for 2nd
best each time - avoids that rival tonight, and is now the one to beat. (2) HUNTSVILLE PLACE finished
just behind the top choice last week after beating cheaper the week before - draws well again, and definitely
has a good chance to be part of the action. (5) DRAGON CITY was in a no chance spot in his local debut
but finished up decently - perhaps can be a bigger player tonight, and bring some value to the exotics? (7)
SPORTS ADVISOR shows a few pretty nice Canadian lines (mixed in with some lesser ones), and debuts
tonight for one of the sharpest barns around - another that may be able to bring some value to the ticket. (6)
HUNT YOU DOWN doesn't look great on paper right now but he has been facing older horses out of town
- goes for a new barn tonight, gets Bartlett on board and may be able to come up with a much better effort.
(1) LENDA HAND MAN used to be an afterthought but his form has improved noticeably lately - draws
best, and we'll see if he can grab a piece of this. (4) BETTOR ROLL ON A was a winner in his U.S. debut
last week, but was helped greatly when the leader just curled up on the final turn - he MAY be able to step
up and be a player with these too, but he just figures to be a bit overbet here. (8) GUSSYS TRUMP CARD
came up with a very nice effort for 3rd last week, but gets stuck behind the 8 ball tonight.
RACE 7 - (3) HUGHIE JUNIOR N only raced here a handful of times earlier this year and the results were
mixed - he seems to be shipping back to YR in fine form, and his pilot won with him at Fhd. last week -
gets the narrow nod. (2) SHANWAY N fits very well with these and is a consistent player...he's also a bit
camera shy, so insist on a fair price if using him on top. (4) FULLBACK was claimed by a barn that wins
with about 50% of their new acquisitions - he drew Post 8, Bartlett opted off, and he ended up going off
40-1 and making a break with his trainer driving....pretend that mile never existed, and look for a different
kind of effort tonight. (8) DARK ENERGY N is pretty good right now but draws poorly once again - hard
to see a way into the race for him, but still playable underneath at a big price. (5) MCCLINCHIE N would
probably appreciate being in a little cheaper - likely looking at only a minor share tonight. (1) DECOY
showed a lot of potential as a youngster but his career just never really took off - been racing ok in PA
lately, but he does seem a little bit on the cheaper side. (7) LUC ROCKS used a well timed move to beat
much easier last week - steps up, draws poorly, and figures to be in for a tough night. (6) NO BETTER JOY
did well for a couple of starts after arriving from Canada....but then tailed quickly.
RACE 8 - (3) PAIGES GIRL was 2nd to a sharp one at PcD 3 back, finished full of pace (but too late) in
her next (here at YR), then put in a BIG effort in her last, making the razor sharp LADY DELA RENTAA
work really hard to hold her off - due for some trip luck...and a win? (1) MILLWOOD BONNIE N races a
little differently from week to week but she's been 1st or 2nd 9X this year, and has to be respected from this
spot. (4) CALLMEQUEENBEE A was a good looking winner here on 9/15 - tired in her next after being
used hard for the lead but rebounded with a nice effort at Chester last week - legitimate threat here. (5)
VELOCITY MCSWEETS took off the gate from Post 6 last week (off a bad date) and was never in it -
drops right back in the box, and look for her to deliver one of her more typical (solid) efforts tonight. (7)
LOOKATMYART is an outstanding 16-4-6-2 here this year and can never be counted out - very tough post,
but still worth a look at a nice price. (8) JOSSIE JAMES A has 2 wins from 6 starts since being claimed a
barn that's been winning at an insane 40% for some time - won't be easy from this spot, however. (2)
ASHTINI landed on a live trip last week and picked up 3rd at a big price - a similar scenario MAY see her
pick up another small share tonight. (6) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE hasn't clicked since returning to YR -
prefer others
RACE 9 - (3) ALWAYS AND AGAIN was used for much of that hot opening quarter last week and it left
him a little short after shaking free of a shuffle in the stretch - he fits very well here, and should be a fair
price in the finale. (2) WESTERN JOE gets some class relief and might have been the top choice if not for
the 3 weeks off (sick scratch) - may still show up ready and beat these. (6) WINDSUN RICKY is in a good
groove right now, is listed at 15-1 ML and is a solid value horse to include on your tickets. (8) SAVE ME A
DANCE was horrible 3 back, a bit better in his next then put it all together last week, scoring the wire to
wire victory - gets the worst of the draw here, but still worth considering if the price is juicy enough. (4)
FOREVER FAV collared the hard used leader with his first over move last week but was no match late for
the fresher closers - not sure he can beat a couple of these, but a live trip puts him in play for a decent piece.
(1) TOWN GOSSIP draws his 3rd straight rail but he was unable to do anything with the last 2 - he's just
off form right now, and would need a quick wake up call to be a player tonight. (7) IMSTAYNALIVE has
just one win this year but he also has 9 seconds - he's good right now, but faces a tall task from all the way
out here. (5) SWEET TRUTH has changed barns from the last time we saw him here and he's doing a lot
better...he's also moving way up in class tonight, and will need to prove that he can go with these.
