The Empire Report – Monday, June 17, 2024 – Race Analysis

RACE 1 – (2) JACKS LEGEND N returns from Ohio at the bottom level and when the millionaire was last seen

here (in Dec.), he was racing in NW30000 – his 2024 form has definitely been a little up and down, but his effort 2

back (1:51 jogburger in the slop) would likely crush these – hopefully the price will be a little better with Tritton at

the lines. (1) KARLOO BRADLEY N drops to the basement and he should be able to win at this level sometime

soon – he’s missed 3 weeks, however (sick scratch), and also catches a very classy rival in #2 – may have to wait

another week. (3) HANDLELIKEAPORSCHE made his first Yonkers start last week and promptly made a break on

the final turn – definitely a bit of a question mark, though the ability is there. (4) B COOL FOOL was an even 4th

last week vs. 20s and should fit okay in here – draws well for top connections and could land a decent share. (6) TH

REE GRAND struggled a bit in his last stint here but was facing better – been “ok” at “The Aces” in his last 3 starts,

and wouldn’t be a bad one for 3rd/4th. (7) MIGHTY SANTANA N hasn’t been as sharp in recent weeks, but is

another decent bomb for the bottom of exotics. (5) BIG SIR has things his own way last week but still couldn’t

finish the job – leaning towards others. (8) HEISMAN PLAYER figures to keep struggling with the bad draw.

RACE 2 – (3) VENTURESOME ARDEN N is forced to step up after losing to lesser in his last pair but those were

still big efforts, right there both starts despite tough trips from the worst posts – he’s a proven player at this level

(won a Borgata leg AND the Consolation), and gets reunited tonight with Bartlett...who has won three straight with

him. (1) HEMSWORTH N was a big price last week and might have been a winner had he been cut loose just a bit

earlier – he can be pretty inconsistent, but he’ll also be very tough from this spot... if in the right mood. (6) COVER

ED BRIDGE appreciated the short freshening and was able to hang on for the win last week (over #1 and #2) – he

still doesn’t feel like he’s at “peak” form, but does deserve serious respect – worth using if the price is fair. (2) NAN

DOLO N was gaining late last week but just couldn’t get to #6 – he’s in the hunt every week, but his only recent

WINS have come when in a bit cheaper. (4) NONE BETTOR A seemed like he was on the right trajectory after

returning from the layoff recently but his last start was definitely disappointing – leaning towards others, but this

guy can never be counted out completely. (5) CADILLAC BAYAMA has been sharp all meet and is in raging form

right now – he takes a big step up, however, and an inside assignment would have probably helped his cause.

RACE 3 – (4) HOPNROLL HEAVEN has been stuck facing the insanely sharp POUND FOR POUND in his last 3

starts, and the very tough JUST ENUFF STUFF in the 2 before that – gets some serious class relief here, and a big

effort is expected. (5) TWIN B DELUXE has also been buried in the same races as #4, and he’s another that should

be a lot more involved tonight – belongs on your tickets as well. (1) KIMBLE A doesn’t show “interference” in his

last start but he absolutely was grabbed up on the final turn to avoid the possibility of running into any of breakers in

front of him – he’s not the most reliable horse on the planet, but he IS worth a look at that 8-1 ML price. (2) HAZEV

ILLE finally got over the hump and picked up the win last week but he had to work for it in the stretch – he has a

license to repeat, but he’s not worth a short price (on top). (3) MISTER DONALD A is pretty good right now, but

may be a notch below a couple in here– good bomb to use underneath (6) UNDRTHSOUTHRNSUN N is as camera

shy as they come and lost out to the equally camera shy HAZEVILLE last week – much tougher spot tonight. (7) VI

VA LAS VEGAS N used a perfect trip to beat lesser last week – hard to see him replicating that mile from out here.

(8) OPTICAL ILLUSION battled hard in his local debut and probably fits well here – brutal spot, however.

RACE 4 – (4) LAZ continues to race well every week, regardless of trip, barn, driver, etc. – he’s one of a few with a

chance in here but we’ll go with him on top, mostly because of his consistency. (5) HUMAN COCKTAIL delivered

a better effort when 2nd three back and has held that form nicely, picking up a win and a 3rd since then – remains a

solid threat, especially with his good gate speed. (2) ON DAYBOO has done good work in the 4 starts since the barn

change, including a win and a close 2nd – couldn’t last cutting the mile last week, but may be better with a close-up

“chasing” trip tonight. (8) SURFSIDE BEACH has enjoyed a strong season so far, and was a sharp first over winner

last week – he clearly fits perfectly, but will need some racing luck to overcome the draw and win from out here –

usable IF the price is right. (3) TWO FACED has been just “ok” most of the year but does get a barn change for

tonight – can’t blame anybody looking to give him a shot this week. (1) CENTURY IGLESIAS usually lags then

offers some late life for a minor share – more of the same tonight? (6) SINGFORYOURSUPPER shows a couple of

recent wins (over cheaper) at Tioga but will have to prove he can hang with these. (7) AIRY SHADOW has tailed,

and now has to contend with a terrible post.

RACE 5 – Tough race! (1) PAT STANLEY N was no factor at all in his last 2 starts but he was reclaimed by the

barn that recently picked up a win and a 2nd with him, and it’s possible that he’ll perk right back up – should offer

some decent value in this wide open affair. (6) OZONE BLUE CHIP was well meant in his last pair but came up 2nd

best to the currently very sharp MAJOR DESIRE – he faces an unpredictable trip from this spot, but does have a

chance IF things go his way. (5) GENIUS MAN has always been very inconsistent and he’s remained that way for

his new barn, as well– if he shows up in a good mood (and grabs a decent trip), he can do some damage here. (3)

KERFORD ROAD A never looked quite right last week (first start off the claim), lacking any real pop leaving then

retreating after being weakly parked – it’s possible that he’s just ready to tail after a long form spree, or perhaps he’ll

be back to his better self after some adjustments – suppose we’ll find out tonight! (4) SMOKIN BY N loves to win

races, is back on his game, but will have to take on tougher tonight as he bumps up to 30s off the claim – could go

either way (7) AMERICAN ZEST A beat this class back in March (with a perfect trip) then was 2nd in 40s the next

week – his current Stga. form suggests he’s still a good fit, but the outside draw may be tough to overcome. (2) KOU

NT BLASTER used a perfect trip to grab 3rd in a “fall apart” race last week– prefer others. (8) ODDS ON PICK SIX

tends to struggle when he draws so poorly.

RACE 6 – (3) CHIMICHURRI N may be worth a stab here – he was forced to take back at the start last week (Post

7) but was absolutely loaded coming through the wire – he hasn’t beaten horses of this caliber in the U.S. yet but

he’s hinted that he can...willing to give him a try tonight. (4) MOONSHINE KISSES finally looked like his best self

in that wire to wire victory 2 back but was handled unaggressively last week and was no threat – maybe he’ll revert

to his front end tactics tonight and be a major player. (2) BACKSTREET SHADOW has been unable to get to “beast

mode” this year but it’s not like he’s been bad...his last start was better than it may look on paper (terrible trip for

his new barn), and the classy 9YO could have a big say tonight. (1) TAKE A GAMBLE does feel like he’s off his

game right now but he’s had way too much Yonkers success to ever just ignore from a spot like this – a wake up call

is possible. (5) KINGSVILLE has been razor sharp for weeks but will likely have to outkick some very nice horses

from this spot – probably looking at only a smaller slice. (6) FUNATTHEBEACH N picked up a pair of well backed

wins recently but was no factor last week from a tough spot – faces a similar scenario here. (7) LOUS SWEETREV

ENGE has been terrific since joining this barn but will have to pass ‘em all to win tonight – brutal spot.

RACE 7 – (3) ROCKNROL RUNA A shipped a long way just to get away 7th last week and he still wasn’t far back

at the end – gets a class drop, inside draw, and the guess is that we’ll see the version that won 2 Borgata legs not that

long ago. (1) SONNY WEAVER N has a terrific local history, winning 15 of his 39 starts (last 3 years) – he steps up

in class here, but he’s more than capable of handling it from this spot – should be right in the hunt. (4) ROCKIN JU

KEBOX has been prone to some clunkers lately, but also throws some big miles – could add some value to the

exotics if in the right mood. (5) SEMI TOUGH isn’t on his “best” game right now, but he’s certainly pretty sharp –

he does face a bit of an uncertain trip here, but he’ll be around for a good piece if things go his way. (2) THE REGU

LATOR does his best work vs. a bit easier but the good draw at least puts him in play for a small piece. (6) SAMHA

RA N has been very good lately so when he landed on a dream trip last week, it was easy for him to score the easy

9-1 upset – not sure things will go as perfectly tonight, however. (7) KOMODO BEACH has been racing well more

often than not and comes into this off a dead game front end score over SEMI TOUGH – he also lands outside, and

that could slow him down, for now. (8) DEETZY is still a pretty nice horse but he’s not having the same stellar

season as last year, and gets stuck all the way outside in a very solid field.

RACE 8 – (3) POUND FOR POUND has been beyond sharp, winning 6 of his last 7 starts, with the last pair being

miles in 1:49.4 and 1:50 – it would be hard NOT to give him top billing while on such a scary roll BUT we won’t go

as far as to label him a “cinch” this week, as he’ll be taking on much classier rivals than he has been throughout his

current streak – we’ll find out if he can just “run and hide” from these too. (6) BIRTHDAY returns in sizzling from

from Ohio, having won 3 straight, 4 of 5, and 7 of his last 9 – when last seen here he was holding his own vs. the

likes of ENERGETIC HANOVER and COACHES CORNER, so clearly class is not a question – should offer some

good value. (4) PLEASELETMEKNOW finished strong 2 back then had pace at both ends of the mile last week –

another to consider if playing against #3 tonight. (5) DUNKIN was offstride before the start last week, recovered to

get away 3rd, then was an ultra-game first over winner– can’t argue with anybody looking to use him here. (2) ITS A

ME MARIO is right there week after week but has only visited the winner’s circle once in his last 5 starts – leaning

a bit more towards others, for the top slot. (1) ULTIMAROCA remains razor sharp, and overcame a tough trip last

week to be right there 3rd – not impossible. (7) JUST BET IT ALL can’t really be faulted form-wise but faces a

daunting task from out here. (8) DUVAL STREET was an upset winner 2 back, but unlikely to get in play tonight.

RACE 9 – (6) LEONIDAS A was a well-backed, big “go” last week but was forced to take a seat (when an

overmatched longshot left to his inside) then ended up hopelessly trapped behind a spent and tiring THIS IS THE

PLAN to the top of the lane – no reason he can’t get aggressive again tonight, and this week he CAN make the top –

and hopefully pick up that elusive first victory of 2024. (1) FAMILY RECIPE had been racing well before taking a

few weeks off then re-qualified nicely at Gaitway – chance to pick up the pieces if #6 falters. (2) ROLLING WITH

SAM was no threat from the back last week but his overall form has been excellent, and he moves back inside –

decent value horse to at least consider. (3) HIMSELF N actually outkicked the outstanding DESPERATE MAN in a

qualifier on 5/15 but then proceeded to lose his next 2 starts here vs. much easier foes – he did finally pick up his

first U.S. win last week, and definitely can land another good share tonight. (5) WINDSUN RICKY struggled last

week (off a sick scratch) but drops right back in the box and should be better tonight – minor spoils? (4) TASTE OF

HONEY joins our leading barn but does feel a bit on the cheaper side right now (off his Stga. lines) – we’ll get a

better picture after tonight. (8) YOROKOBI N is having a solid season but likely needs a much better post (vs.

easier) to be a real threat. (7) HIGH VOLTAGE DEO may be in a bit too steep as he makes his Hilltop debut.

RACE 10 – (4) WHATS STANLEY GOT A was one of the big surprises in this year’s Borgata Series then while not

quite as sharp, did continue to hold his own in several Invitationals – had no prayer last week, but was definitely full

of pace coming through the wire (after sitting last all the way) – drops, moves inside, and the road to the winner’s

circle goes through him. (2) SPEED MAN N has been off his best lately but did have some “sneaky pace” finishing

last week – could add some value to the exotics. (5) THUNDER HUNTER JOE picked up his first victory of the

season at PcD 2 back, and definitely fits with these – a decent trip puts him in the hunt for a good piece. (1) BILL

HALEY N has been camera shy the last 2 seasons but ALMOST pulled off a front end score from Post 7 last week –

he's a logical player moving into the rail, but he’s also up in class and not the most consistent horse in the world. (3)

AIR FORCE HANOVER has been sharp for weeks so it was no surprise to see him win his last...though he did

have to work hard to finally overhaul BILL HALEY N at the wire– likely back to smaller piece for tonight. (6) VICI

put in a good first over bid last week but was gobbled up once into the lane – figures to be hurt by the bad draw

tonight. (7) C BET HANOVRER has come back around but faces the tough combination of a class jump AND bad

post tonight. (8) CYRUS N drops a win off his card after tonight – we’ll pass tonight, with an eye on next week.
