The Empire Report - Friday, November 4, 2022 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (3) ALEX TYE doesn't exactly have the most appealing form right now but he's used to facing

light years better than these, and really should have no excuses from this spot - he'll also be a VERY short

price. (6) SOUTHWIND MOROCCAN has any number of recent tries that would give him a chance at a

good piece here - hard to predict his trip but at 20-1 ML, he's worth using in exotics, hoping to add some

value. (7) BETTER UP wasn't up to the two move try from a similar spot last week but remains a threat to

leave the gate and grab a piece....with a little easier journey. (1) NOAHS MILL has more bad lines than

good recently, but if he shows up in the right mood he can definitely land a piece from this spot - not a lot

of value, though. (5) GUSSYS TRUMP CARD appears to have at least some ability, but he's 3YO that was

just racing in NW2 looking to take on older foes here - still may be able to grab a small piece. (2) WHITE

BELLY seemed off form before shipping in last week and he raced similarly in his YR debut - in need of a

wake up call. (4) ZACH MAGUIRE N has no wins and one 2nd from his last 37 starts at Yonkers - sticking

with others. (8) WEONA SIZZLER A was facing 50s just recently but his current form makes him hard to

consider even at this bottom level.

RACE 2 - (1) SMOKING JET has come into his own as a 5YO, dominating the Ohio scene winning HALF

of his 32 starts - his local debut (in the $250K Miecuna Trot) was disappointing, as he lost all chance with a

break before the start....but we're willing to give him a chance to strut his stuff tonight. (5) STORMY KRO

MER has won 9 of HIS local starts this year, and has been a money making machine for the last 3 years -

he jogged last week, and remains a big threat for tonight. (3) INCOMMUNICADO won his first 2 local

starts of the year before landing on a hopeless trip in the Miecuna Trot - kicked home full of trot last week,

and would hardly be a shock tonight. (2) NOWS THE MOMENT just missed to #3 in his first local try this

year then trotted evenly last week after having to take back at the start - may be able to tow along here and

stay pretty close. (4) LEAN HANOVER is a streaky sort who has been good for a while - he's listed on the

bottom of this 5 horse field, but the right trip could see him do better than that.

RACE 3 - (4) HURRIKANEKINGJAMES broke a long local losing streak in his first start off the claim 2

back then raced super again last week, flying home to be a close 3rd from a very difficult spot - should be

very tough in this very soft $25K claiming field. (2) LOVE THE BLUES N hooked wheels to 3/4s three

back while making a good move, broke before the start on his next then got lost in the back from Post 8 in

his last - not a bad spot to include him in exotics, hoping for a wake up call. (3) DIG DANNY DIG may be

a little cheap, but he's certainly been racing well out of town - logical threat to land somewhere on the

ticket. (5) SECRECY seems better than a few of these, and is another worth including underneath. (6)

SPORTS ADVISOR drew outside in both local starts and is hard to gauge right now - the 3YO takes on

older tonight but may still be able to grab a small share. (1) GOTAFOOLISHDESIRE has the pole

returning from Fhd., but he's struggled here in the past - leaning towards others. (7) SUNSETBOOZECRU

ISE generally needs better posts to be a player, although he did grab 2nd (at 92-1) from Post 8 on 9/2 - still

prefer others. (8) ROCK N TONY trailed all the way from a similar spot last week.

RACE 4 - (4) POSH ONTHE BEACH A was caught way in the back his last 3 starts and just had no

chance - he's a proven player at this level from better spots, however, and we may see a much more

aggressive try tonight - not a bad week to hop on his team. (5) FLOW WITH JOE failed to pick up a check

in his first 3 local starts but he just seems capable of better - his barn has been pretty hot this week, so that

may be a good angle to hop on right now. (8) AWESOMENESS faces the possibility of getting parked

every step from Post 8 this week...and it's also possible that he'll still be digging in late, with a chance for a

piece. (1) SWAGASAURUSREX could really use a class drop, but he can be a threat for a piece when he

draws well like this - good one to include underneath. (7) RISKY MILLION landed on a perfect trip last

week and really should have been able to seal the deal (he got beat by a nose, instead) - that being said, he

still has a chance to rally for a piece tonight....if the trip is favorable enough. (2) MISTER HAT would look

better in 20s, but he's another that could use the good draw for a chance at a small share. (3) MY MIND IS

MADEUP has only managed ONE 5th place check from his last 6 starts - we keep waiting to see some

better signs from him. (6) CHIP WALTHER has some okay tries out of town, but we'd prefer to just

observe, for now.

RACE 5 - (5) CHANTEE was racing off a bad date arriving from Canada last week but turned in a VERY

impressive performance, sustaining a wide move right through the wire to win powerfully - he definitely

faces tougher here, but may be able to beat these too. (7) QUALITY BUD got parked a long way before

making the top from Post 8 last week, BARELY kept a rival from going by him to 3/4s but somehow still

regained the lead into the stretch, and was only collared late by a couple of much fresher foes - big threat

tonight despite another bad draw. (1) MULLINAX always seems to "figure", but often finds ways to lose

(still can't believe he never could get fully by #8 last week) - obviously he CAN win from this spot, but it

just seems there's better value taking a shot against him. (4) LUCIANO N has been struggling while several

of his barnmates are doing well, but the classy 11YO always seems to bounce back eventually - maybe a

fresh set of hands will help perk him up? (2) ON THE VIRG was super 2 back, but then disappointed last

week (the bad trip hurt, but he seemed pretty empty late, regardless) - he draws well enough to at least have

a say IF the "good" version shows up tonight. (8) NO ORDINARY MAN has raced well here in the past,

and seems to be in reasonably decent form out of town - not a bad bomb for 3rd? (6) VIRGIN STORM

seems to have forgotten how to win (at least at Yonkers), but he's always a candidate for a small share. (3)

PINEBUSH LIFESAVER is doing better these days, but may still struggle a bit against these.

RACE 6 - (5) LETTUCERIPRITAA didn't click at all in 4 starts for his last barn but he was claimed again

last week, and lands with a trainer that has been a pleasant surprise the last couple of months - couldn't have

found an easier spot for his new connections, and we'll look for him to show up sharp tonight. (8) CARRA

CCI HANOVER likes to win races, has a win and two 2nds from his last 4 starts and is somehow listed at

20-1 ML in this soft field - has to be worth at least considering for a couple of tickets. (3) HAPPY TRIO

seemed to be back on a better path recently but took a step backwards last week, tiring badly after sitting

3rd - suppose we'll find out tonight if it was just a one week blip, or if he's ready to go the wrong way again

(7) LINCOLN BOULEVARD wasn't a bad 4th last week, even if helped by the inside trip - good bomb for

3rd/4th (1) PACING MAJOR N is listed at 9/5 ML despite giving way last week and failing to beat a single

horse - seems like a good one to take a shot against. (4) JUST WAVE GOODBYE picked up 4ths in his last

2 local starts before heading up to Monti - maybe he can grab a small slice tonight too? (6) JESSICAS

BEACH BOY is struggling right now, and hard to endorse. (2) YS SUNSHINE was dismal from start to

finish upon arrival last week.

RACE 7 - (1) STREET GOSSIP was a big earner at 2 and 3 then was able to make the difficult jump to

4YO very smoothly, holding his own in Opens here earlier this year - qualified nicely (for his new barn)

after a few months off, and the guess is that he'll be ready to roll right off the bat. (5) TIMESTORM has

really come around in the last few months, and beat this class 2 starts back (no factor trying the Open last

week, but still trotted a final half in :55.4) - legitimate threat dropping back down to this more comfortable

level. (3) WARRIOR ONE has struggled to find his best game for a while, but did look more like his old

self last week - we'll see if he can build off that win, and perhaps take another. (4) ON HIGHER GROUND

disappointed as the favorite last start, then took 3 weeks off - on his best effort, he can be a big player here,

but it's hard to predict which version we'll see tonight. (7) BEERTHIRTY K has been hitting on all

cylinders at Stga. and he's always hinted at being a high level performer...would have liked his chances a lot

better had he not drawn so far outside, however. (6) BARN HALL found it a little too tough up at the Open

level last week - this spot should be more to his liking, but he may not land the best of trips from this spot -

maybe a small piece? (2) BARRY BLACK has lost a step, and generally has needed a bit easier to be most

effective this year.

RACE 8 - (6) TWIN B SPEED DIAL has 3 wins and 3 seconds from his last 6 starts and the guts he

showed to come back and beat UPTOWN FUNK last week was very impressive - steps up a peg, but sharp

enough to handle it. (1) CLASSIFIED MATERIAL has been racing ok since the recent claim and used a

pocket trip to pick up 2nd last week - chance for another good trip tonight...and another good piece. (3)

UPTOWN FUNK threw the kitchen sink at the top choice last week, looked like he was a winner into the

stretch but somehow let his sharp rival come back to beat him at the end - license to get the job done

tonight, and worth considering if the price is decent enough. (2) SHOREVIEW can be a bit camera shy but

give him a good trip in this class and he'll usually grab a nice piece - very possible for tonight. (4) MARTY

MONKHOUSER A made the top much easier than expected last week and that led to his 5th victory of the

year - always a chance that he could steal it on the front end, but it just seems somewhat unlikely in this

field. (5) FOX VALLEY INFERNO really hadn't been "great", but a perfect trip last week allowed him to

get up late for the 19-1 upset victory - still prefer others, but willing to give this guy a little more respect

after last week. (8) JOJOS PLACE raced well off the claim last week but faces a daunting task from Post 8

tonight, (7) PICARD A beat his class last week but that division was much easier than what he's facing in

here - Post 7 only makes things that much harder.

RACE 9 - (4) HOOLIE N HECTOR has really blossomed into a nice 4YO, and he's been finishing right

behind some pretty nice horses the last several weeks (TAKE ALL COMERS, GREY, HL REVADON,

etc.) faces a couple of tough foes tonight but the price should be fair, and he's worth a look. (1) JOXTER is

another that has really turned into a nice 4YO, and that has no doubt been helped by the fact that Daley

doesn't just look to pike him every week - would be no surprise in his YR seasonal debut. (3) HIGHLAND

MOWGLI is a nose away from winning all 4 of his most recent starts, and has been terrific since joining

this barn in Sept. - he's missed 3 weeks, however (scr. sick), so he may be just a bit vulnerable tonight. (2)

NO DRAMA PLEASE can be a little in and out, but any of his better efforts would put him in play for a

decent piece from this spot. (7) STARLIT RAMBO was caught too far back to threaten last week but may

find himself in that same boat tonight - he's definitely good now, but some trip luck will be needed to get

into the hunt. (5) EMPEREURTHEBEST FR was no threat in either of his first 2 U.S. starts and he catches

a tough field tonight - prefer others, but keeping a close eye on him for signs of improvement. (8) NO MAS

DRAMA figured to be coming from too far back to rally for anything more than a minor piece. (6) MOSTI

NTERESTINGMAN shows a lot of scratches, breaks, and qualifiers in his recent lines - will just observe,

for now.

RACE 10 - (2) CAROLINA MAGIC won his last 2 starts at this level including last week's 8 hole score -

we'll stay on his team. (4) WINDSONG JACK drops back down to 15s where he picked up a win and a 2nd

in his last 2 starts - look for a solid effort here. (5) ACES ROCK has been pretty "meh" in most of his local

starts but he's back on Lasix for tonight, and that might make a difference - willing to include him in

exotics. (3) SPORTSKEEPER has struggled most of the year but he did pick up a 2nd two back, and his last

was better than it looks - we'll see if he can continue to race well in this class. (6) KEPT UNDER WRAPS

tired from the pocket last week but does drop down from 20s to 15s - wish he had a better post, though. (7)

UNICO LEGEND wasn't bad moving back to 15s last week and probably fits well with this bunch - not

sure he can overcome the draw, however. (1) BORN DESIRE makes his 2nd start for a new barn but just

looks a bit too cheap for these...even from the pole. (8) MY BOY JACK has some ok form in PA but seems

a bit too cheap for these.....and Post 8 just makes it even harder to look his way.
