The Empire Report - Friday, December 8, 2023 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (5) PERFECT VIXEN was used hard for much of the mile last week and was still very game for

3rd right to the wire - deserves a chance to get it done in the 2nd try for her new barn. (7) NEWSBOY is an

interesting bomb - he'd been no good for some time but hinted at some better life 2 back, then was 2nd in

PA last week - obviously not an ideal draw returning to YR, but a big price makes him worth at least a look

(2) STICK WITH ME KID battled hard for a long way with the top choice last week and really only tired

late - goes for a new barn tonight, and should be a solid player once more. (1) DAGON HANOVER really

should have been 2nd last week but he does drop and draw the pole with Bartlett, making him worth using

in exotics. (4) INFINITY STONE drops to the level where he can be a player, and his barn has recently

come to life - could come up with a better try tonight, maybe for a piece. (3) DOUBLE DEALING got

nipped last week off a perfect trip but maybe that's why he's now 0 for 23 at Yonkers - ok for underneath.

(8) BAZILLIONAIRE seems unlikely to be able to find a way into the race from out here. (6) LIVINGON

THERAIL has been no good for a long time.

RACE 2 - (6) EASY TO PLEASE really looked like a winner into the stretch last week but was somehow

still a nose shy at the wire - since the winner was the classy LUCKY ARTIST A we'll cut her some slack

for that loss, and look for her to make amends against this somewhat softer crew. (4) SILENT CROSSING

sharpened at the lower levels and has held that form pretty well even against better- a live trip tonight could

put her right in the mix. (1) JK MY GIRL hasn't left the gate since arriving from "The Aces" a few starts

back, but this is a spot where she can be handled more aggressively - if not used too hard early on, there's

no reason she can't grab a decent piece tonight. (5) PURE SILKY has leveled off quite a bit after an

excellent early part of the year - she raced a bit better last week, and can be a threat here if she builds off

that mile....but she's also likely to be overbet. (3) SAUBLE DELIGHTFUL was driven VERY aggressively

by Bongiorno the last 2 weeks (despite her long odds) and those trips were just too tough - a conservative

steer tonight may give her a chance to rally for a piece....at a big price. (2) COWGIRL LILLY keeps hitting

the board without ever looking like a serious threat to WIN - can't blame anybody for including her on the

bottom of exotics. (7) MILLWOOD BONNIE N was handled aggressively last week off the layoff and not

up for it at all - have to believe she'll take a more conservative approach tonight.

RACE 3 - (7) MADRID A started her U.S. career with a bang, sweeping the field at Chester in her

stateside debut then winning the Open here as the odds-on choice - things started to tail a bit for a few starts

after that but some time off and the addition of Lasix produced a 2nd to DOUGS BABE A last week, and

that stamps her as the one to beat tonight, with the class drop. (3) SWEETEST BELLE is a 3YO facing

good older mares but she looked super winning her local debut, and raced as well as could be expected for

3rd into a sizzling final quarter last week - look for another good effort tonight. (1) TWIN B SUNKISSED

was a tough first over 3rd last week (right behind the top choice) and is looking at an easier trip from the

pole tonight - belongs in exotics. (4) MAN DONTFORGET ME was one of the mares that was wiped out

in that horrible accident on 11/17 - great to see her back in action, and great to hear that her owner (and

pilot that night) is mending as well- hard to know what to expect from her tonight, however (6) OKINAWA

BEACH A has a potent late kick but it's hard to know how tight she'll be off the layoff and qualifier -

maybe she can rally for a minor share? (5) MCMARKLE SPARKLE hasn't been on her best game lately,

but it would be no surprise at all if she was able to rally for a small slice. (2) FORTUNADA hasn't clicked

at all in her 3 local starts - at least big chunks of $$ come off her card the next 2 weeks. (8) CHILLIN

BYTHE POOL pulled off a stunner last week...unlikely to have much say against these, however.

RACE 4 - (7) I LOVE ONGAIT hasn't been able to really get into a groove in her 4YO campaign but may

be feeling better about herself after beating up on a weak bunch last week - she steps up a notch, but she's

also faced much better than these in the past - maybe she can build off last week's success? (2) MORNING

HAS BROKEN hasn't won a race since coming back from a layoff this summer - at first she was racing

well in defeat, but her overall form has started to decline, even as she's continued to drop in class -- maybe

this is the level that she perks up, but hard to take a short price on top right now. (4) LAURIE LEE has

enjoyed some success here this year, and her best effort would make her a solid player with these - worth

considering if the price is right. (1) CAPTAINS STAR was freshened up after backing through the field on

10/28 and her qualifier looks solid - may be able to grab a piece of this. (3) HOW SWEET IS THAT is hard

to gauge after getting wiped out in her only local try - inclined to pass for now, but will check the tote board

for any hints. (5) LADY NEWTON appreciated the class drop and was able to chase the top choice for 2nd

last week - may not be able to find as kind a trip tonight, however. (6) CATIE FAYE HANOVER figures to

have a hard time getting near the action from this spot.

RACE 5 - (4) ANOTHERSTATEMENT A kicked home strong to win his local debut - was well backed

stepping up in class last week but got a little but lost into a very hot 3rd panel, battling back in the lane to

be a close 3rd - drops in for a tag and it seems like a spot where he should fit well. (2) HURRIKANEKING

JAMES got very sharp before being claimed & was a very sharp winner last week for his new connections

as well - very dangerous once ore. (8) MISSILE SEELSTER may just take off the gate and never get in

play but he HAS left from bad spots in the past, and he does have an aggressive pilot for tonight - not a bad

bomb to try to get onto the ticket. (1) JOJOS PLACE really hasn't been sharp in some time but the move

inside may allow him to just sit close and bring home a small piece. (6) ROCKATHON was a solid 2nd last

time but the inconsistent performer did benefit from a very easy trip - this is a much tougher spot, but his

barn is going well now and he may be worth throwing in underneath. (3) QUATRAIN BLUE CHIP landed

on a perfect trip 2 back to score the big upset but was a dullish 4th in last - maybe he can save ground for

some minor spoils? (7) ADAM CROCKER A is just 11-0-0-3 here this year - may have gotten a bigger

look had he not drawn so far outside. (5) COALITION HANOVER has been struggling mightily for awhile.

RACE 6 - Interesting race: (6) NO TURNING BACK probably deserves a pass for his last start as it was

off a month, on an off track, with her getting away 9th - she's eligible to be a lot more serious in her 2nd try

for the nation's leading barn, she shows good miles over the half in Canada, and that 20-1 ML price is

definitely appealing. (4) DC ANNA has won here in the past, fits this class nicely, and just went a pair of

sharp miles for Kakaley at PcD - could be a very live player if the trip goes her way. (3) BARABOBBITT S

is hard to like off his 2 U.S. qualifiers and one start but he was trotting well after the fact last week, and

could be ready for a much bigger effort with the move inside - check the tote board for some clues. (5) TIM

ESTORM has been inconsistent at best lately but he can beat better than these when "right", and can't be

discounted tonight. (1) DRACO S is listed at 9/5 ML but he's been well off his top form the last few starts

and may prove to be a very vulnerable favorite tonight. (8) NO DRAMA PLEASE is a very solid player at

this level but the draw may hinder his chances significantly - would need a pretty big price to consider him

on top from out here. (7) THE LAST CHAPTER continues to drop, but in less than stellar form - prefer

others right now. (2) ETHAN T HANOVER finished up the track last week returning from the layoff.

RACE 7 - (3) COACHELLABOUND N won a zillion in a row here on her march through the classes and

then was a winner in her first Open try as well - finally got beat and had to settle for a couple of smaller

pieces at the top level, then was just freshened up for a month and re-qualified - the guess here is that she'll

be ready to go, especially being able to avoid starting right back up in the Open. (5) TONYS MOM beat up

on a bit easier last week, but it's the WAY that she did that was so impressive - a similar effort could make

her a big threat against these too. (1) SILK CLOUD A should be looking at a good, close up trip from this

spot...giving her a good chance to take home a decent chunk. (4) UPTOWN HANOVER had her first

"lesser" effort in some time last week, but a bad date and off track could have contributed to that - if she

can bounce back to her top form, she can be a very legitimate player tonight. (2) TWIN DELIGHT likely

needed that last start and is eligible to be sharper in her 2nd off a layoff - she's also a 3YO taking on tough

older mares, and we'll see if she's ready to battle with these. (7) DELITFULCATHERIN N isn't in her

"beast mode" at the moment, but she is racing "well" - not sure she's sharp enough to overcome tonight's

terrible draw, however. (6) PROBERT ships in off a sick scratch, and goes from a bad post, in a tough class.

RACE 8 - (4) B NICKING must have enjoyed beating up on cheaper at Fhd. because shipped back to

Yonkers and did the same thing - this is a tougher field, but still easier than he's used to facing...can take

another. (2) WILLY WALTON rallied very nicely for 2nd two back then was able to drop a bit and wire the

field last week - the main danger. (6) CALL ME DANI has a few good recent efforts out of town and was

facing better here earlier this year - definitely could outperform that juicy 20-1 ML price. (3) FULL

RIGHTS was a decent 3rd off the sick scratch 2 back and an even 4th last week - ok for the bottom of

exotics. (7) WINDSONG PIONEER gets a class drop but may need to wait for a better post before he can

really take advantage. (5) SWANSEA is listed at 5/2 ML despite failing to function in his last 3 local starts,

and qualifying poorly (3X!) at Monti - pretty hard to make a case for him right now. (8) SWISS HOUSE

ON FIRE used a quick start to grab a 4th from Post 8 last week but may not be as fortunate tonight. (1) BL

UEBIRD JESSE was empty in both starts since returning from the layoff.

RACE 9 - (3) OUR LADY LARA was right there with much better when last seen here in October - has to

be worth a stab tonight at that 8-1 ML price. (2) LUCKY ARTIST A enjoyed very good trips the last 2

weeks but dug in when called upon and picked up a pair of victories - most of her barn has been on the

upswing recently, and she has tons of black class - belongs on your tickets. (4) VILLAGE JADE was

caught first over last week in a hot race where the winner kicked home in :27.3 - her overall form is solid,

and she could easily be a big player tonight. (8) HEAVENS SHOWGIRL A will need some major trip luck

from out here but she's gone plenty of big miles vs. better, & is definitely one for longshot fans to consider.

(1) GOT SEXY SCARS beat a NW7500 field here 2 back then was 2nd last week in PA one level up- steps

up one notch more, but may be sharp enough to still land a share. (7) IDEALINFUN rallied well after

shaking free last week but she gets a poor draw for tonight and is 0 for 7 here this year - maybe 3rd/4th? (5)

KELE KELE is listed as the ML favorite despite struggling since returning from her most recent layoff -

leaning towards others. (6) IRON MISTRESS has really upped her game since changing barns but gets a

tough draw off a bad date for tonight.

RACE 10 - (2) HIGHLAND MOWGLI finished just behind a couple of good ones the last 2 starts but

faces no such foes tonight - he's won 9 of 22 local starts, and this feels like a good spot for him to grab

another. (4) KILIMANJARO NL got used hard and weakened in his local debut but was able to hit the top

and crush the competition last week - we'll see if he can build off that and be a threat one level up tonight.

(5) STREET GOSSIP blasted from Post 8 last week, earned a two hole trip and was a solid 4th - an easy

trip puts him in the mix for another chunk tonight. (1) HUNTING AS may prefer to be in a little cheaper

but he draws the pole with Kakaley and may be able to tow along for a share (3) SEVENSHADESOFGRE

Y is capable with these and gets a good draw....but the month off may leave him a bit short this week. (8)

VALI HANOVER has enjoyed a terrific year but he threw a rare dud last week and his barn seems to be

struggling a bit lately - maybe can rally for some minor scraps? (7) CREATIVE VENTURE appreciated the

class relief and raced well in his last few - faces a tougher assignment tonight, up in class from Post 7. (6)

YES raced well 2 and 3 back but just never looked good last week - move out to Post 6 won't help him

rebound.

RACE 11 - Very tough finale! (7) SHEIKH YABOOTY N shipped down from Stga. from a trainer that

started to win at a very high rate this year so it was no surprise to see her struggle at first - she seems to be

heading in the right direction, and has the right pilot to try to steal one in a blank field. (5) SHECOULDBE

GOOD N also did some amazing work at Stga. for another very high % trainer/driver....but has hit the skids

since leaving that barn - may be a spot for a wake up call. (8) MY RED SEA was caught behind horrific

cover last week and deserves a pass....the problem is she has a lot of OTHER weak tries as well - would at

least consider at the right price. (2) CHARMING VIXEN is 2 for 2 since changing hands, but vs. some soft

Monti fields - maybe she can do some damage here too? (6) THUNDRA has been camera shy for a long

time but still could rally for a piece with the right trip. (3) GAME OF SHADOWS has the ability to beat

these, but she made breaks in 2 of her last 3 local tries and has a new trainer listed for tonight. (1) LARJON

LEAH is 1 for 34 locally over the past 2 years and hard to consider...unless you're expecting a quick wake

up call. (4) SPROUT has been ok at Fhd. but just feels pretty cheap.
