SOA of NY recognizes Jim Marohn Jr. on his 5000th Win

On June 15, Jim Marohn Jr. drove 2nd favorite, Ourlittlegeneral A trained by Michael Annunziata to victory at Yonkers Raceway in race 5 to pick up career win number 5,000!
Jim joins his father, Jim Marohn Sr. in the 5000 win club as his father won 5,358 times during his 38 year career.
Jim, Jr. began driving in 2002 and in his 20 years of driving has amassed $39 million in earnings in 32,425 starts. Jim’s career high in wins came in 2017 with 496 and his best year in earnings was 2018 with $5.3 million.
In 2020, Jim ranked 4th at Yonkers Raceway in starts (1125), wins (133) and earnings with $2.3 million.

CORRECTION - IMPORTANT UPDATE: We are pleased to report that the SOA of New York and MGM Yonkers have agreed to a one-month extension of the current Horsemen's Agreement that was to expire on June 30th. This will allow the parties the time necessary to negotiate a comprehensive, long-term Horsemen's Agreement. The Gaming Commission, which has the sole power to award race dates, has not awarded race dates for July as of this time. An earlier post had incorrectly indicated that race dates had been awarded.
