The Empire Report - Friday, October 1, 2021 - Race Analysis

RACE 1 - (2) PANTHEON HANOVER was facing considerably better when last here in August - inclined

to just ignore those last 3 Amateur lines and go back to the 10 hole effort 4 down, where he went a big mile

for 2nd - anything close to that would make him a big threat in this spot. (6) ARI ALLSTAR has been "ok"

since the recent claim, with a couple of legitimate excuses - he can have a say in this field with a bit of trip

luck. (7) CINNABAR DRAGON definitely fits and is racing well enough to win - gets no luck with the

draw for his new connections, but still deserves a look at the right price. (1) TASTE OF HISTORY is listed

at 3/2 on the ML but his current form hardly merits that - he has the rail is a soft field so he CAN win...but

won't over any value at that price. (3) IN ROCK WE TRUST has a couple of ok tries not too long ago but

his last few are clearly lacking - needs to find one of those better efforts. (4) HERE COMES SWIFTY has

been struggling in PA - there's a new trainer listed, so there's always a shot he could improve. (5) GYPSY

LEATHER just hasn't looked good at all in his last few, and would need a big wake up call to be a threat

here (just to point out how strong Yonkers' purses are, this guy is just 2 for 30 this year...yet has been

claimed 6X in the last 7 weeks)! (8) DAKOTA JACK draws Post 8 while struggling - have to pass.

RACE 2 - (1) SAILBOAT HANOVER had an equipment issue at the start last week so just ignore that line

- his recent form has been terrific, and he was a game winner here 2 starts back - will be controlling the

action tonight and the road to the winner's circle definitely goes through him. (2) LL MYSTRO is a very

solid player in this class, but he's exiting a very sharp barn and it's hard to say if he'll be as good for his new

connections - pretty hard to leave him out of the exotics from this spot. (4) FOLLOW YOUR HEART is

sharp right now but he's another exiting a top barn, with a bit of uncertainty as to how he'll do for another

trainer. (6) GONNAHAVEONEMORE was hopelessly blocked through the stretch last week while

appearing to have pace - not a bad bomb to try to fit onto the ticket somewhere. (5) MY WISH CAME

TRUE hit board the 3X he raced off the pace, but stopped badly the two times he was put on the lead -

chance for a small piece if allowed to race from behind again. (3) BOURBONS COURAGE is hard to

gauge because he's had a bunch of bad posts in this class - could be closer tonight with the better draw. (7)

WELL DONE SON figures to be coming from too far back to have any big impact here.

RACE 3 - (5) MCNULTY Z TAM shipped in sharp from NJ and was certainly very sharp here too,

showing good pace at both ends of the mile (losing only to the perfect trip winner) - solid chance to beat

these if he's as good as he was last week. (4) IDEAL SON was sent off at 2-1 from Post 8 two back but

didn't even lift a hoof - gapped in 4th behind the hot pace in last, but did offer a good late surge to almost

nail the tiring leader - legit chance here if he brings his best, but also figures to be overbet. (3) AMERICAN

SONIC won his first 2 starts after shipping back in then was an ok 3rd in last - logical player, but he goes

for a new barn tonight and we'll have to see how well his form holds up. (6) NORTHERN SPORTSMAN

was used hard the last 2 weeks and tired - goes for a new barn now, and will likely be back to racing off the

pace - chance to grab a small piece, at a big price. (7) DERECHO comes into this off a pair of wins...but vs.

much softer, and on the lead - draws poorly for a new barn while moving up in class, and definitely seems

vulnerable tonight. (8) SWAGASAURUSREX might be a good fit with these (hard to gauge off his lines at

"The Aces"), but may need to wait for a better spot, regardless. (2) MACH TIME N was a decent pocket

2nd 3 back but has otherwise struggled - not impossible, but prefer others. (1) MAGRITTE drops and

draws the pole - that's normally a dangerous combination but he's been so off form for SO long, it's hard to

get excited about his chances tonight.

RACE 4 - (3) MAJOR BUCKS was reclaimed out of his last by a barn that has now seen it's win % go

ABOVE the 40% mark - this guy has been sharp for some time, and is definitely the one to knock off

tonight. (1) RANSOM DEMAND landed on too tough a trip last week but his overall form has been solid,

even at this $20K level - move to the rail gives him a solid chance to land somewhere on this ticket. (7)

RISKY MILLION started the year at 0 for 26...and then grabbed wins in his last 3 starts (the last of which

was VERY sharp) - terrible spot tonight, but too sharp to leave out of the exotics. (4) ITSGOODTOBEDA

KING took advantage of both the class drop and perfect trip to grab the win last week - steps back up for a

new barn, and we'll see if he can do better against the 20s than he has in the past. (2) ELRAMA N jumps up

with a good effort every now and then - he'll be a good price, and maybe he can add some value to the tri or

Super. (8) BETTOR CAT just airmailed it vs. the 12.5s last week and was able to hang on late - takes a

double-jump off the claim, lands Post 8, and may have trouble replicating that last effort. (5) MR DS

ROCK hasn't done much lately, but gets slight post relief and perhaps a good trip can land him a minor

share. (6) GOTHIC ROCK gave it an aggressive try from the rail last week and clearly wasn't up for it -

guessing he needs a class drop before we see his best again.

RACE 5 - Good race! (7) ALLGONOWHOA has raced for FIVE different trainers in his last 5 starts and

come up with big efforts for all of them (including last week, even if the line may not indicate how good he

was) - moves up in class and draws horribly, but since the price will be decent he's definitely one that's

worth using. (8) BLACKTREE was very good for his new barn last time, rallying from 7th at the top of the

lane to be a close 3rd at the wire - another terrible draw, but he has to be worth including at that 20-1 ML

price. (1) WAVES OF FIRE A is clearly feeling good right now, and come into tonight off a win at this

level - he's been doing his damage rallying from off the pace, so we'll see if a more aggressive try from the

pole could actually backfire. (2) IN SPADES has a 3rd and a 2nd since dropping to this level - very logical

player for a sharp outfit. (3) ASTON HILL DAVE had a tough first over trip 2 back, then was completely

blocked at the back in his last - might be a good one to include underneath in exotics. (4) BEVANS

CULLEN N has been "ok" since the claim, towing along for minor pieces - more of the same tonight? (5)

RUTHLESS DUDE was ok the two times recently that he was able to sit a pocket trip - not sure that's a

possibility tonight, though. (6) PLAY THE FIELD does his damage when on or near the front end - with

the outside draw (and his current form), that seems like an unlikely scenario here.

RACE 6 - (1) FAST ON THE DRAW was an infrequent winning check getter at the bottom claiming level

for a long time...until moving to a barn that's hotter than any right now, and becoming instantly transformed

into a "winning machine" - was claimed by another high % barn after last week's blowout vs. the 15s, and

will try his luck vs. the 20s tonight....and seems sharp enough to pull it off. (2) DISMISSAL SLIP lacked

the late pop to be a more serious threat when 3rd last week, but was definitely hurt having to chase the fiery

pace - he's been very solid at this level, and can be a player again tonight. (3) BUSH MAN N has been a

reliable contender every week lately, and is definitely one that's worth including in exotics. (5) TODDLER

TANTRUM showed some decent life 2 back, then came up 2nd best after a very aggressive try in last - his

current form gives him a decent chance to land somewhere on the ticket. (7) WESTERN REDHOT has

been good in most of his recent starts but just wasn't as good last week - lands in a tough spot for another

new barn, and may have to settle for rallying for a minor piece. (6) SHOREVIEW has disappointed more

than he's delivered lately - outside post won't make things any easier for him. (8) RYCROFT N was able to

grab 4th from Post 8 last week thanks to a ground saving trip - not sure moving up in class was the best

move, and another 8 hole probably seals his fate for tonight. (4) ROCK N BLUE moves from a barn that

wins nearly 40% of their starts to an outfit that's 1 for 32 this meet - we'll stick with others.

RACE 7 - (3) WESTERN HILL was camera shy here for a long time but seems to have gotten over that -

he's been holding good form for a while now, and that last start was much better than it looks on paper

(brutal trip) - deserves the narrow edge here. (6) HASH TAG SWAG tired unexpectedly last week but the

barn sent out a few disappointing performers that night - drops back in the box quickly, and could easily

bounce back to be a major threat. (2) MY MIND IS MADEUP trailed to the final turn then went offstride

last week....just as he did on 7/26 - has rebounded in the past, and may be able to do the same tonight...and

he'll be a good price here. (1) PARKLANE JET hasn't had much success the handful of times he's shipped

in here the past 3 years (8-0-0-1), but he seems to be returning in decent form, and the rail draw may give

him a shot at a small piece. (7) EFFRONTE A was one of several horses this barn picked up earlier this

summer that all seemed to run right up the class ladder - this guy threw a dud on 8/9, dropped from 50s to

25s after missing a month, but really wasn't all that bad...but now he's missed another 23 days, draws

outside, and just seems awfully risky at the moment. (8) FOX VALLEY INFERNO was helped by an inside

trip last week but still finished full of pace for 3rd from Post 8...at 80-1 -- willing to throw him in for 3rd

again! (4) BIG BAD BILL hasn't done much lately - drops tonight, so we'll see if that helps him find a

better effort. (5) DAVIDS COMING HOME went on quite a roll, climbing from the 15s up to the 40s -

drops tonight after seemingly leveling off considerably, and he's another that may or may not perk up here.

RACE 8 - (5) CHANGE STRIDE N has been super for ages but was struggling to win races - he's now

come out on top in 2 of his last 3, and was really outstanding in his last - not sure what trip he'll land on

here, but he's versatile enough to handle whatever comes his way...deserves top billing. (1) AWESOMENE

SS has never been a great "Yonkers horse", but he gets around the track better than he used to, is very sharp

at the moment, and the rail draw will help offset the class jump - expect a strong effort (again) tonight. (4)

OZONE BLUE CHIP seemed like he might be pushing it up in 40s but he's proving to be a legit player at

this level - use him in exotics. (6) MAROMA BEACH was "sneaky sharp" in a bunch of starts, though not

close to winning any of them - moves to a new barn tonight, will be a big price, and he's not a bad bomb to

include underneath. (2) PICARD A will attract plenty of $$ as he moves inside for a hot barn - not sure he's

up to the task right now, so be careful about using at a short price. (7) MARTY MONKHOUSER A seemed

like a very good $25K claimer but his recent starts have seen him up his game to this $40K level - outside

draw may slow him down a bit tonight, however. (3) TOWNLINE ALL GOOD has finally found some

better form, but the jury is still out as to whether he really needs to be in a bit cheaper. (8) TIGERS WAY

used a god trip to beat a fairly weal $30K field last week - moves up, new barn, and 8 hole tonight.

RACE 9 - Tough race: (6) SPORTSKEEPER has been very good at this level, and even gave it a big try vs.

the 50s last week - drops back down, but will need some trip luck to overcome the post - worth a play, at

what figures to be a pretty decent price. (5) MAJOR CROCKER A couldn't buy a win for much of the year

but comes into tonight off back to back scores, on and off the pace, for 2 different barns - moves up as he'll

go for yet another new barn tonight, but has to be respected in his current form. (1) TREASURE MACH is

good right now, and debuts tonight for the Super Siblings - clearly sharp enough to win off the claim but

he's always been more of a "trip horse", and he just may get the typical VERY aggressive Bongiorno drive

tonight -- we'll see how he responds to that. (4) BETTOR AT HIGHTIDE drops a peg, gets a bit of post

relief, and may be able to turn that into a small piece of the pie. (3) YANKEE OSBORNE has been fairly

inconsistent lately - needs an easy trip and his best effort if he hopes to grab a decent piece of this. (2)

GLENGARRY KNIGHT N's form suggests he really needs to be in easier...but the inside draw at least

gives him a chance to tow along for a minor share. Both (7) VELOCITY KOMODO and (8) BETTOR

NOTBITTER A will be coming from well back, and need things to really fall apart up front to have any

real chance to be even minor players.

RACE 10 - (6) FINE DIAMOND has faced (and beaten) much better than this not all that long ago - hasn't

been on his "best" game lately, but it's not like he's been bad -- barn has been sending out some sharp

winners lately, so maybe this guy will add his name to that list tonight. (2) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A just

conceded from Post 8 last week but he was trapped while loaded with pace the week before, and was 2nd in

a very fast mile the start before that - should be able to do some damage here. (1) SOUTHWIND ONYX

changed barns last week and may have gained back some confidence with that better try at Chester - chance

to grab a piece of this from the pole. (4) ISLANDSPECIALMAJOR was a bit better last time dropping to

this level, and is another candidate to land somewhere in the exotics tonight. (7) LUCIANO N isn't nearly

as sharp as he was for much of the summer but he hasn't really fallen apart either - would need some trip

luck, but MAY be able to slip in for 3rd/4th. (3) ARCANE SEELSTER was very well meant when he wired

a much cheaper bunch in last - not sure he can be quite as effective vs. this much better field. (5) SOHO

CHELSEAA returns off some good NJ work in his last pair but he's 7-0-1-1 locally, and that includes

several starts vs. cheaper than these. (8) HES ELECTRIC will look better in NW5000 next week.
